Introduction

Nine Stars infrared motion sensor trash cans are designed and created to make dealing with trash cleaner and easier. Our products provide an effortless way to dispose of trash by providing a touch-free environment. Simply put an object or hand above the strategically placed infrared motion sensor (located near the lip of the lid) and the lid will automatically open. Once the object or the hand is no longer within the sensor's range the lid will automatically close within seconds. Instructions

Contents of the box
Remove all components of trash can from the box.

Lid
Liner ring
Trash container

Insert batteries
Locate the battery compartment on the back of the trash can lid. Carefully push the battery cap up and slide out to remove the cap. Insert two (2) "AA" batteries. Insert the batteries in accordance with the positive (+) and negative (-) poles. Slide the battery cap over the compartment. Make sure it clicks to ensure that it's securely fastened.

Squeeze the tab on the battery cap in and carefully lift up to open. To close, insert side without clip first and push the battery cap down. Make sure it clicks to ensure that it's securely fastened.
Insert trash bag
Insert the trash bag using the liner ring (see diagram). Fold the trash bag over the edges of the liner ring. Place the trash bag and the liner ring in the trash container. Tuck the bag completely into the base of the container so that edges of the bag do not show once the lid is placed on top of the base.

Insert bag through the liner ring hoop first, then fold bag edges over the ring. **DO NOT put liner ring inside the bag**
Trash can set up
Align the lid with the base of the trash can and gently place the lid on top.
Turn the trash can
On /Off The power button is located on the front of the automatic lid. Press Open/Close button to turn on the power/sensor. Press and hold the Open/Close button for 3 seconds to turn the power/sensor off.
How to use your trash can
Place your hand or an object within inches of the motion sensor (located on the lid). The lid will open instantly. Once your hand or object is out of range of the sensor the lid will close within seconds.

Additional Features

Manual Open/Close Button

Press "Open/Close" button will open the lid. The lid will remain open until the "Open/Close" button is pressed again.
User may turn the power off by pressing the Open/Close button for 3 seconds.

Technical Facts

A green light flashes every 6 seconds when the trash can is powered "ON".
A solid green light will appear when the lid opens.
A flashing green light will appear when the lid is about to close.

Align batteries according to the positive and negative poles.
Do not submerge the trash can into water because it is equipped with many electrical components. The trash can may be wiped with a damp cloth.
Do not manually force the lid close; this can cause damage to the internal gears. If the gears are damaged, the automatic lid will not function properly.
Replace used batteries in a timely manner to prevent battery acid leakage. Battery acid may cause damage to the electrical components of the trash can. Do not mix new and used batteries.
Do not place trash can in direct sunlight or a heavily moisturized environment.
Keep the sensor clean to maintain normal sensor function.
Do not mix alkaline, standard (zinc-carbon), or rechargeable (NiCd, NiMH, etc) batteries.

Troubleshooting

Errors	Solutions
Lid does not open	Make sure the power is on by pressing the power button. LED light should flash approximately every 6 sec.
Lid does not open	Check if the batteries are placed in correctly.
Lid does not close	Press the"Open/Close" button to close the trash can.
	Check to see if there are any objects within the sensor area. If there are, remove them.
	Wipe sensor with dry cloth to insure the sensor is clean and that there is no excess moisture on it.
Lid opens slowly LED flashing after lid open	Battery power is low. Replace the batteries.
