This quick installation guide provides instructions for installing a MII to
Fast Ethernet 100Base-FX FiberOptic Transceiver.
1-1 Introducing the FiberOptic Transceiver
The FiberOptic Transceiver is a 100Base-FX Fast Ethernet MII Transceiver
that meets all IEEE 802.3u standards. Two models are available:
• FiberOptic Transceiver-ST (multi-mode)
• FiberOptic Transceiver-SC (multi-mode)

• Standards: IEEE 802.3u Fast Ethernet 100Base-FX
• MII Connector: Male, SCSI II 40-pin Connector
• Fiber Connectors:
MII to ST (multi-mode): ST connector (multi-mode)
MII to SC (multi-mode): SC connector (multi-mode)
• Fiber Optic Cable:
50/125, 62.5/125 or 100/140 µm (multi-mode)
• Data Transfer Rate: Up to 100Mbps
• Selectable Switch: Fdx/Hdx, Repeater/Node, PhyAddress0
(isolation mode)/PhyAddress4 (regular mode)
• Power Requirement: 1.0A @ +5V (from MII port/connector)

  • Page 3 3. Connect a fiber cable between the Transceiver's Tx (transmit) port and 100FX card/device's Rx (receive) port and another cable between the Rx to Tx, respectively. 4. Configure the SW1 DIP switch to match the remote device's Duplex (Half or Full) and Repeater or Node modes. MII Physical Address is 0 (isolation mode) or 4 (regular mode).
