EVH 5150III LBXII - 15-Watt Head Amplifier Manual

INTRODUCTION

This professional all-tube amplifier was developed to meet the exacting specifications of Edward Van Halen, one of the true living legends of rock guitar. The 15-watt 5150III LBXII amp head's dual-channel features deliver sparkling clean tone and punchy gain, inspiring unlimited artistic expression.
With such fierce tone and uncompromising construction, the result is phenomenal EVH performance for years to come. Special features of this distinctive amp include dual-concentric gain and volume controls for precise and independent control of the clean (green) and crunch (blue) channels, along with a black control panel, white metal grill cage with EVH striped motif, and more.

CONTROL PANEL FEATURES

1. INSERT: Plug guitar in here using only a high-quality shielded instrument cable.
2. SELECT: Pushbutton in position (GREEN) selects clean channel; out position (BLUE) selects crunch channel.
3. GAIN: Dual concentric gain controls. Inner round knob controls clean channel (GREEN) gain; outer "chicken-head" knob controls crunch channel (BLUE) gain.
4. LOW, MID, HIGH: Low, mid and high-frequency tone controls.
5. VOLUME: Dual concentric volume controls. Inner round knob controls clean channel (GREEN) volume; outer "chicken-head" knob controls crunch channel (BLUE) volume.
6. PRESENCE: Ultra-high frequency tone control for both channels.
7. POWER LAMP: Indicates amplifier is on when illuminated.

REAR PANEL FEATURES

8. POWER INPUT: Connect included power cord to a grounded outlet in accordance with voltage and frequency ratings listed on rear panel of amplifier.
9. FUSE: With power disconnected, replace a blown fuse only with one of the type and rating specified on rear panel of amplifier.
10. POWER: Turns amp on and off. When first turning amplifier on, leave OPERATE/STANDBY switch (K) in STANDBY (down) position for 30 seconds while tubes warm, then set switch to OPERATE (up) position to take amp out of STANDBY mode. Before turning POWER switch off (down position), put amp in STANDBY mode for 10 seconds
11. OPERATE/STANDBY: When taking a break from playing and before turning amplifier off as noted above (J), put amp in STANDBY mode—which helps prolong tube life—by setting this switch to the STANDBY (down) position. Return switch to OPERATE (up) position when resuming play after a break. Also as noted above (J), amp should remain in STANDBY mode for 30 seconds after initial power-up.
12. POWER LEVEL: FULL position provides maximum output power; 1/4 position reduces power to approximately four watts.
13. EFFECTS LOOP: Connect SEND to effects input and RETURN to effects output.
14. FOOTSWITCH: Connect included single-button footswitch here for channel switching (overrides front panel switch).
15. RESONANCE: Adjusts the power amp's low-frequency response.
16. LOAD IMPEDANCE: Selects output impedance (4, 8 or 16 ohms) to match speaker load.
17. SPEAKER OUTPUT: For connection to speaker cabinet.
    NOTE: A speaker must always be plugged into the speaker jack when amplifier is on, or damage may occur. Switch amplifier off or to STANDBY (K) when changing speaker connections or impedance settings.

To prevent electric shock hazard, do not connect to mains power supply while top cover is removed.
