Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb - Amplifier Manual

INTRODUCTION

In a bold Fender first, the Tone Master Deluxe Reverb amplifier uses massive digital processing power to achieve a single remarkable sonic feat: faithfully modeling the circuitry and 22-watt power output of an original Deluxe tube amp. Using a high-performance 100-watt digital power amp to achieve the headroom and dynamic range of a real vintage Deluxe tube amp, paired with the punch and warmth of a single Celestion® G12 NEO Creamback speaker and a resonant pine cabinet, the result is tubeless Deluxe Reverb tone, volume and dynamics virtually indistinguishable from the all-tube original. And with all these features, the Tone Master Deluxe Reverb is in fact about only half the weight of an all-tube Deluxe.

Front panel features give guitarists a playing experience identical to the tube version, including Fender's world-standard reverb and tremolo effects. Additional rear-panel features deliver modern convenience and flexibility—including an output power selector for full power and five attenuated settings, balanced XLR line output with impulse response (IR) cabinet simulations, mute switch for silent stage or recording use, USB port for firmware upgrades, and more.

CONTROL PANEL

CONTROL PANEL

  1. NORMAL CHANNEL INPUTS: Connect instrument here. Normal input 1 produces full sensitivity; normal input 2 has adjusted sensitivity (-6dB) for slightly darker tone and cleaner response with high-gain instruments.
  2. NORMAL CHANNEL VOLUME: Controls volume level of both normal channel inputs.
  3. NORMAL CHANNEL TREBLE: Controls treble response of both normal channel inputs.
  4. NORMAL CHANNEL BASS: Controls bass response of both normal channel inputs.
  5. VIBRATO CHANNEL INPUTS: Connect instrument here to use built in "vibrato" (tremolo) effect. Input 1 produces full sensitivity; input 2 has adjusted sensitivity (-6dB) for slightly darker tone and cleaner response with high-gain instruments.
  6. VIBRATO CHANNEL VOLUME: Controls volume level of both vibrato channel inputs.
  7. VIBRATO CHANNEL TREBLE: Controls treble response of both vibrato channel inputs.
  8. VIBRATO CHANNEL BASS: Controls bass response of both vibrato channel inputs.
  9. REVERB: Controls reverb effect level. No reverb is heard when control is turned fully counterclockwise. Reverb can also be turned on and off using included two-button footswitch.
  10. SPEED: Controls "vibrato" (tremolo) effect rate.
  11. INTENSITY: Controls "vibrato" (tremolo) effect depth. No effect is heard when control is turned fully counterclockwise. Effect can also be turned on and off using included two-button footswitch.
  12. POWER JEWEL: Illuminates red when amplifier is on; flashes between red and amber during warmup. Illuminates amber in MUTE mode (O).

REAR PANEL

REAR PANEL

  1. IEC POWER INLET: Connect included power cord to a grounded outlet in accordance with input power voltage and frequency specified beside inlet. Universal 100V-240V operation.
  2. POWER: Turns amplifier on and off.
  3. MUTE: Mutes power amp. When in MUTE mode, XLR line output remains active for studio or "quiet stage" use, and POWER JEWEL (L) illumination changes from red to amber.
  4. OUTPUT POWER: Selector switch offers full power (22 watts) and five other attenuated wattage settings that tailor room/venue overall loudness. Set amp front-panel channel volume to personal preference for tube-emulated response, then set OUTPUT POWER to preferred level.

CABINET SIM: When using XLR BALANCED LINE OUTPUT (T), this switch offers three different tonal options—a flat, uncolored amp signal without speaker cabinet emulation (OFF); and two impulse response (IR) profiles emulating different speaker/microphoneplacement combinations:

IR PROFILE 1: Dynamic microphone close-mic'ed at edge of speaker cone center cap for pronounced attack and definition. IR created using a Shure® SM57 microphone.

IR PROFILE 2: Dynamic microphone close-mic'ed at edge of speaker cone center cap for increased bass response and smoother midrange. IR created using a Sennheiser® MD 421 microphone.

  1. BALANCED LINE OUTPUT LEVEL: Adjusts output level of XLR BALANCED LINE OUTPUT (T) for external devices and systems (i.e., PA and recording gear), whether mic or line level.
  2. GROUND LIFT: When using the XLR BALANCED LINE OUTPUT (T), engaging this button may eliminate hum or buzz resulting from connection to improperly grounded equipment.
  3. XLR BALANCED LINE OUTPUT: For balanced connection to external devices and systems (i.e., PA systems and recording gear). XLR line output remains active when amp is in MUTE mode (O).
  4. FOOTSWITCH: Connect included two-button footswitch for reverb and tremolo on/off here.
  5. USB PORT (NOT SHOWN): For firmware updates, a USB port is located on the underside of the chassis beneath the OUTPUT POWER section. Visit fender.com/firmware/support for periodic firmware updates that improve and enhance the Tone Master experience.
