Cleaner Safety
Wh en using an electrical appliance, basic precaution s sh ould always be followed, in cludin g th e followin g:
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury:
• Do n ot immerse product. Use on ly on sur faces
moistened by cleaning process.
• Do not use outdoors or expose to rain.
• Use on ly com m ercially available floor clean ers
intended for mach ine application.
• Do not leave carpet shampooer/ extractor when
plugged in. Turn off th e switch an d un plug th e
electrical cord when not in use and before servicing.
• Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close atten tion is
necessary wh en used by or near children.
• Use on ly as described in th is man ual. Use on ly
manufacturer's recommended attachments.
• Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If carpet
sh ampooer/ extractor is not working properly, has
been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped
into water, return it to a service center immediately.
• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a h andle,
close a door on cord, or pull cord around sh arp
edges or corners. Do not run carpet shampooer/
extractor over cord. Keep cord away from heated
sur faces.
• Do n o t u se e xt e n sio n co r d s o r o u t le t s wit h
inadequate curren t carrying capacity.
• Turn off all controls before unplugging.
• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp
th e plug, not the cord.

• Do not handle plug or carpet shampooer/ extractor
with wet h an ds.
• Do n ot put any object in to open in gs. Do n ot use
with an y opening blocked; keep free of dust, lin t,
h air, an d an yth in g th at may reduce airflow.
• This carpet sh ampooer/ extractor creates suction .
Some models also contain a revolvin g brush roll.
Keep hair, loose cloth in g, fin gers, an d all parts of
body away from openings and movin g parts.
• Do n ot use with out recovery tan k in place.
• Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking,
such as cigarettes, match es, or h ot ash es.
• Use extra care wh en clean in g on stairs.
• If th e mach in e tips over durin g use, sh ut it off
immediately, set it uprigh t, an d wait for th e motor
to stop completely. Th is allows th e ball float to
retu rn to n orm al p osition an d p erm its p rop er
air flow th rough th e cleaner.
• Do not use to pick up gasolin e, aceton e, per fumes,
cologn es, p ain t th in n ers an d oth er flam m able
liquids such or use in places wh ere th ey may be
presen t.
• Operate an d store in doors in an area above 32˚F
wh ere th e machin e will not freeze.
• Keep your work area well ligh ted.
