INTRODUCTION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
In common with all the switches in the range, the Squash Switch is an infra-red
transmitter and works in a similar manner to the remote control for a television receiver
or video recorder: it squirts out a specific code of pulses of invisible infra-red light. The
squash switch operates on channel 4 (See Switching Controller instructions).
On the side facing you is an on/off switch and on the far side emerges a flexible plastic
tube which is terminated in the squash pad E. Also on the far side are a jack socket C
and the infrared emitter D.
The switch is primarily intended for use with the ROMPA
(in the red box), but it will work equally well with the earlier ROMPA
model SC3, though not in infra-red mode. It is also compatible with the React controller,
but again not in infrared mode.
The switch is supplied with a coiled cable H having a jack plug on each end. This serves
two purposes: -
1. When used with the earlier SC3 controller or the React controller, the switch needs to
be connected to the controller using this cable.
2. Because it is a freestanding transmitter, the switch contains batteries. These are of
the rechargeable Nickel-Cadmium type, and by leaving the switch connected to the
