Installing and Connecting an EX 8200 series Switch
The EX 8200 series switch chassis is a rigid sheet-metal structure that houses the
other hardware components such as Switch Fabric and Routing Engine (SRE) modules,
a Switch Fabric (SF) module, and line cards. The switch ships in a cardbox box that
has a two-layer wooden pallet base. The switch chassis is bolted to the pallet base.
To unpack an EX 8200 series switch, follow instructions in Unpacking an EX 8200
series Switch.
You can install an EX 8200 series switch in a 19-in. equipment rack or cabinet by
using the front-mounting bracket attached to the chassis. To install the switch in a
rack or cabinet, follow the instructions in Mounting an EX 8200 series Switch on a
Rack or Cabinet Using a Mechanical Lift or Mounting an EX 8200 series Switch on a
Rack or Cabinet Without Using a Mechanical Lift.
To connect an EX 8200 series switch to earth ground, follow instructions in Connecting

To connect power to the switch chassis, follow instructions in Connecting Power to
an EX 8200 series Switch.
To connect and configure the switch, follow instructions in Connecting and Configuring

To connect the switch to a network for out-of-band management, follow instructions
