    GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 APPLICATION: The RAD-800 Radio Master Interface Control Unit (Fig. 1-1) provides a means of connecting any fire alarm system to an DIGITIZE RAD-211 (Radio Master Box) for automatic radio transmission of alarms to the Communication Center. The RAD-810 Standby Power System is shown in Fig. 1-2.

    INSTALLATION 2.1 MOUNTING: The RAD-800 and the RAD-810 should be securely fastened to the wall in a clean, dry, accessible location where it will be readily seen by the fire protection personnel. The underside of the lowest cabinet should not be less than three feet from the floor.

    BUZ switch is returned to its normal position. This also turns off the TROUBLE indicator. The TROUBLE indicator and device are powered by the RAD-810 Standby Power System supplied with each control unit. Controls are shown in Fig. 3-2.   • Page 18 NOTE: When the standby system (RAD-810) is first put in service the BAT/HI-RATE switch in the RAD-800 should be operated to the HI-RATE position and left in that position for a minimum of 24 hours. The system trouble circuit will be energized. At the end of the HI-RATE charging period the switch should be restored to BAT position.
  • Page 19 The only sure way to determine the state of the battery is an actual discharge test. This should be performed at least once a year. With the Standby System (RAD-810) disconnected from the RAD-800, connect a ten (10) ohm watt resistor across the B+ and B- terminals of the regulator, for a thirty minute period. With the 10 ohm load still connected, reconnect the RAD-810 to the RAD-800.
