Insert the memory card
The COOLPIX 950 uses compact
flash memory cards to store pho-
tographs, in much the same way
an ordinary camera uses film. The
memory card slot is on the bottom
of the camera. Open the cover,
slide the card in as shown above,
and fold the eject button over.
Then close the cover.

Check the focus and flash
Gently depress the shutter-re-
lease button half way and check
the autofocus and flash indicators
next to the viewfinder. The cam-
era is ready to take a picture when
the autofocus lamp (green) glows
steadily and the flash lamp (red) is
not blinking.

Using the Menus
Separate menus are available for
each operating mode.
To display and hide the menu
With the monitor on, press the MENU button.
In menus with more than one page, you can
move between pages by pressing the MENU
button. Pressing the MENU button when the
last page of the menu is displayed hides the
menu.
To highlight a menu item
Use the
W/T
buttons to move through menu
items one at a time.
To select a highlighted menu item
Press the shutter-release button. Where several different
settings are possible for an item in the main menu, you can
highlight the menu item and press the shutter release button
to display a submenu of options, or use the command dial to
make changes to settings directly from the main menu.
