Preparing for Installation
Install the equipment in a restricted access location.
Set up a local console (serial-port monitor and USB key-
board or a computer with terminal emulation) for con-
figuring or troubleshooting the software installation.
PN: 40-0284-00
Verify the installation location meets the electrical power
requirements. FlashBlade//S requires four C20,
20A/250V power outlets.
Install any additional blades, DFMs, and DFM blanks
after mounting the chassis to reduce weight. The
FlashBlade//S with 7 blades and 3 blanks without DFMs
weighs 80 kg (176 lb). Use a mechanical lift or 4 or more
people to lift the chassis.
Make sure the rack can support the weight of all installed
equipment, including cables, bezel, and rails—approx-
imately 100 kg (220 lb) for each FlashBlade//S chassis—
and the weight is within the floor loading limit.
Save all provided tools, cartons, and packing material in
case return shipment to Pure Storage is necessary.
Prior to unpacking, inspect packages for shipping dam-
age. If there is damage, photograph it and contact Pure
Storage Technical Services before proceeding.
Have all necessary cables available.
Mount the chassis to the rack within 3 m (9.85 ft.) of the
network connection switches or panels.
Verify the installation environment:
Is within the operating temperature range of 5°C-35°C
l
when the rack is fully populated.
Does not have airflow ducts aimed directly at any
l
chassis.
The installation shall require all of the following:
The building installation shall provide a means for con-
l
necting to protective earth, and
The equipment is to be connected to that means, and
l
A service person shall check the socket-outlets provid-
l
ing power to the equipment, provide a connection to
the building protective earth. If not, the service person
