OUTPUT CONTROL
By default, we set our pedals to be at
unity gain when engaged. In some
scenarios, this can create a perceived
drop or boost in volume. To adjust the
output level, remove the backplate and
use a small screwdriver to adjust the
internal trimpot (Output Trim) located
above the In and Out jacks. Turn to the
right to increase output level; towards
the left to decrease.
blood optional. noise required.
9VDC, 2.1mm negative center pin
adapter, 90mA draw.

THEY CALL IT
THE PLAYGROUND OF THE WORLD.
Look, I get it. I'm surprised too.
Six years later, we're still here.
Somehow we didn't self implode and
take some fair to acceptable sonic ideas
with us into the eternal darkness. And
you know what else? The Black Fountain
is still here too. So we thought we'd
give it a spit shine. Because at Old Blood
Noise Endeavors, we believe that
everyone could stand to be polished with
spit. It gets the oil off. No other way,
from what I was told. Anyways.
Now for some of you, this will be your
first go around with the Black Fountain.
The embodiment of the original Black
Fountain lives on in this most recent
iteration, V3 w/ Tap Tempo as we call it,
however, the rough edges have been
polished off and we've added a handy tap
tempo control so you can do some time
adjustments on the fly. We're too old to
be bending over to turn knobs, so we
figured you were too.
The OBNE Black Fountain V3 w/ Tap
Tempo is a digital delay focused on
emulating the forgotten sounds of old Oil
Can Delay effects units. It gets viscous.
We suggest you put your waders on.
MODES
MODERN :
emulates the classic long
delay "oil can" units such as the Morley
EDL, TelRay Model 10 and Fender
EchoReverb. The Time and Repeat
controls mimic the functions of the
vintage units, while the Fluid control
introduces modulation based on the
characteristic "wobble" of the
electrostatic delay platter.
ORGAN :
based on the TelRay Deluxe
Organ Tone, Fender Dimension IV, and
other short–delay "oil can" units. This
mode has a fixed delay time of 211
milliseconds, allowing greater control of
the modulation. Time controls the rate
of modulation, Fluid controls depth, and
Feedback controls the length of trail - all
the way down for a short slapback, all
the way up for reverb-like feedback.
Because the delay time is fixed, the tap
tempo in this mode controls the rate of
modulation.
VINTAGE :
similar in function to the
Modern mode, but has a grainy, more
gainier vibe. Both the Modern and
Vintage modes have a minimum delay
time of about 30 milliseconds and a
maximum delay time just below 1
second.
CONTROLS
FLUID :
Controls the
modulation on the delay signal.
All the way down for no
modulation, all the way up for
deep chorus-like modulation.
TIME :
Controls the time of the
delay (separation of the
uneffected signal from the
repeat). All the way down for
short delay times, all the way up
for long delay times.
MIX :
Controls the mix of
effected and uneffected signal.
All the way down is 100%
uneffected signal, all the way up is
100% wet (effected) signal.
FEEDBACK :
Controls the
amount of repeats of the delay
signal. All the way down for less
repeats and all the way up for
more repeats. Not quite endless
repeats, but a lot.

UNSTUCK
i really love this setting because it works
great for both arpeggios and for shoegazey
chords. The hold switch is the secret
weapon though for a swooshy pad to
settle into.
EXPRESSION
The EXP jack is used to externally
control Time, Feedback, or both,
using a TRS expression control. To
choose how you want to use the
expression control, hold down the
Bypass footswitch for a few
seconds. The on/off LED will start
blinking. Set the Time and
Feedback to where you'd like them
in the expression down (heel)
position. Hold the Bypass
footswitch again and the on/off
LED will blink faster. Now set Time
and Feedback to where you'd like
them in the expression up (toe)
position. Note that these settings
can go in either direction (for
example, in the heel position you
might have high time and low
feedback, and in the toe position
low time and high feedback). To
finalize, hold Bypass again; the
LED will return to its unblinking
state and the expression control
will be active. To deactivate
expression for either control,
simply leave it in the same
position when setting heel and
toe.

BE YOND
Mystic. Ethreal. Bye earth, it's been real.
TAP TEMPO
To set the tempo by tapping your
foot, simply tap along on the TAP
footswitch. This will override the
TIME control. You can further
subdivide your tapped tempo using
the subdivide switch, creating ¼
note,
note, or triplet delays from
your tapped tempo.
FUN FACT :
If you hold down
the tap footswitch, it leaves the
time as is and maxes out the
feedback for as long as you hold it
down. This does not create infinite
(looping) feedback, but it helps
you stretch and layer sounds with
a simple momentary hold. When
released, the feedback will return
to the previous amount set by the
Feedback knob or expression
control.
