    Intended Use INTENDED USE The AccuMax Quantum VPC Mattress is a therapeutic pressure redistribution system comprised of foam-filled air cylinders that aid in the prevention/treatment of pressure injuries in patients and residents with up to moderate risk and/or Stage I and II pressure injuries when combined with recommended turning protocols.

    Introduction INTRODUCTION The AccuMax Quantum VPC Mattress is a non-powered surface that uses a system of intake and output valves to provide weight-based pressure redistribution whenever a patient moves or is repositioned. It has a top layer of visco-elastic foam for improved patient comfort. The AccuMax Quantum VPC Mattress with Airport can be operated in a non-powered or powered mode.

    Install and Use the Mattress CU2 Control Unit (Optional) Item Description CU2 Control Unit The optional CU2 Control Unit controls the firmness of the mattress when it is used with the optional Airport connector. INSTALL AND USE THE MATTRESS The internal temperature of the mattress will affect the firmness of the mattress.

    Bed Exit System If the AccuMax Quantum VPC Mattress with Airport and the optional control unit are used, then do the steps that follow: Pull the hooks outward from the back of the control unit, and suspend the control unit from the footboard of the bed frame. Uncoil the power cord, and plug the cord into the appropriate AC power source.

    Cleaning and Disinfecting CAUTION: To help prevent equipment damage, obey these cautions: • Caution—Do not steam clean or power wash the mattress or optional control unit. Pressure and excessive moisture can damage the protective surfaces of the bed and its electrical components.
  • Page 21 Cleaning and Disinfecting LEANING AND ISINFECTION Cleaning and disinfection are distinctly different processes. Cleaning is the physical removal of visible and non-visible soil and contaminants. Disinfection is intended to kill microorganisms. The table of “Approved Cleaners/Disinfectants” on page 16 summarizes the approved cleaners/disinfectants for use with the associated contact time for disinfection.

    Cleaning and Disinfecting STEP 2: Disinfection With a new or clean wiping cloth soaked in an approved cleaner/disinfectant, use light pressure to wipe all exterior surfaces of the mattress and optional control unit previously cleaned. Make sure all surfaces remain wet with the cleaner/disinfectant for the specified contact time.

    Maintenance Machine wash the top cover per your facility protocol. The cover can be washed at a maximum water temperature of 54°C (130°F). • Use a disinfectant as instructed in the manufacturer’s instructions. • To determine the amount of disinfectant to use, determine the amount of water in the washer, and follow the manufacturer’s dilution instructions.
