MAINTENANCE

Sprocket

• A damaged sprocket will cause
premature damage or wear of
saw chain.
• When the sprocket has worn
0.5 mm (0.020 in.) or more,
replace it.
• Check sprocket and the clutch
and clean the bar mount area
before installation of the bar.
• Replace either or both if worn.
Some tree sap and resins are corrosive. Thoroughly wash the guide
bar and sprocket areas after each use, then coat metal parts with light
oil.

Cooling System Cleaning

• Check periodically.
• Clogged fins will result in poor
engine cooling.
1.
Remove the recoil starter and
the air guide plate.
2.
Use compressed air or wooden
tool to remove dirt and dust
from between fins to let cooling
air pass easily.
3.
Clean the periphery of the ignition coil and the flywheel magneto.
4.
Assemble the components in reverse order.
