If the crossed-out bin symbol appears on the equipment or packaging, this means the product must not be included with other general waste at the end of its working life. The user must take the worn product to a sorted waste centre, or return it to the retailer when purchasing a new one. Products ready for disposal and measuring less than 25cm can be consigned free of charge to dealers whose sales area covers at least 400m², without any purchase obligation. An efficient sorted waste collection for the environmentally friendly disposal of the used device, or its subsequent recycling, helps avoid the potential negative effects on the environment and people's health, and encourages the reuse and/or recycling of the construction materials. GEWISS actively takes part in operations that sustain the correct salvaging and re-use or recycling of electric and electronic equipment.
1x Smart Gateway
1x 12 Vdc power suppler
1x Terminal for connection to the KNX bus
2x Fixing brackets for DIN rail
1x Installation manual
The Smart Gateway is the central element of the Gewiss IoT solution; it enables home automation management logics and functions to be centralised, collects data from sensors in the home, sends commands to actuators and communicates with cloud applications.
It transfers data from connected device networks (KNX, Zigbee, etc.) to customer devices and applications, enabling the exchange of information between devices with different communication protocols. The management system architecture is illustrated in figure C. The first version of the product uses the KNX and Zigbee protocols. The process of interfacing with other systems or the use of protocols will be enabled in line with future software version releases.
The device is fitted with (figure A):
A1. Power supply socket-outlet
A2. LAN socket-outlet
A3. USB socket-outlet
A4. KNX socket-outlet
A5. Status LED
A6. Device activation/deactivation push-button
A7. Reset push-button
Check the device is powered and connect it to a DHCP server using an Ethernet cable, so that it can connect to the Internet.
If the device can connect to the Internet, the status LED will change to alternating blue and orange as it waits to receive a valid configuration; if this does not occur, check the status of the device as shown in the "Status Notifications" table. Once connected to the Internet, the device is ready to be configured.
The status LED (A5) is used for:
TEMPORARY NOTIFICATIONS | |
LED | Event |
Orange, unblinking | Device activation |
Orange, 3 flashes then off for 3 secs | Enabling the Wi-Fi module |
Blue, unblinking for 0.5 secs then off for 2 secs | Activation in DHCP mode |
Orange, quick blinking for 2 secs | KNX cable insertion/removal |
Orange, quick blinking | Factory reset in progress |
Blue and orange, alternating quickly for 10 secs | Device localisation |
STATUS NOTIFICATIONS | |
LED | Event |
Orange, unblinking | DHCP address not received |
Orange, slow blinking | Not internet connection |
Blue, slow blinking | Not possible to register on server |
Fixed blue | Device operational |
Blue, unblinking, with orange blink every 5 secs | KNX bus not present |
Blue, unblinking, with double orange blink every 5 secs | Unable to join the Zigbee network |
Blue, unblinking, with triple orange blink every 5 secs | KNX bus not present, unable to join the Zigbee network |
Blue and orange, alternating slowly | Waiting for a valid configuration |
Switching the device on and off
To switch off and on, press the A6 push-button located on the upper area of the device.
NOTE: turn off the device before turning off the power.
Factory reset
In the event of abnormal operation, or before using the device in a new system, it must be reset.
To make the factory reset of the device and restore the factory conditions:
The device reverts to the factory IP configuration (network connection via Ethernet and IP address assigned via the DHCP), deletes the previous project and any data related to the Zigbee network to which it was previously connected, and then restores the default KNX physical address (15.15.255).
Place the device on a level surface.
The device can be installed on a DIN rail using the fixing brackets provided for this purpose (see Figure B).
For instructions on how to configure and use the device, please see the Installation and Use Manual, which is available on the product page on the website at www.gewiss.com.
The device identification code is displayed on the label on the back of the device itself (see example in Figure D).
