Exposure Compensation/Backlight Correction

Your camera automatically adjusts the exposure for each scene. However,
there may be situations where you wish to manually override the automatic
determination of the camera and under- or over- expose the image. This is
called EV compensation. The EV compensation can be adjusted from [-2.0
EV] to [+2.0 EV] in 0.3 EV steps. EV compensation is used when a suitable
brightness (exposure) cannot be obtained in circumstances of high contrast
(the difference in brightness between the subject and the background) is large,
or when the subject that you want to photograph is very small within the screen.
1. Set the mode dial to one of [ P ], [ Tv ] or
[ Av ] and press the

direction to decrease the value.
Turn the selection wheel in the
direction to increase the value.
The setting range of the exposure
compensation is as follows.
-2.0, -1.7, -1.3, -1.0, -0.7, -0.3, 0, +0.3,
+0.7, +1.0, +1.3, +1.7, +2.0
The larger the value, the brighter the
image. The smaller the value, the darker
the image. The set value is displayed
on the screen.
