- Page 4 The base of the air pump should be a minimum of 3 inches above the water level of the pond to avoid flooding the pump due to siphon effect. Step 2: Connect the air tubing to the outlets of the PA Series Air Pump. Make sure the air tube is not twisted or kinked. Avoid long distances of air tube over 15 feet to keep the air pump cool.
