Salety Precautions
Charging a battery
A
CAUTION! Do not charge a frozen battery.
Battery gas can explode.
• Keep cigarettes, sparks and flames away from the
battery.
• Remove cell caps before recharging.
1. Remove and clean battery. (See CHECKING
&
CLEANING BATTERY in this section.)
2. Check the electrolyte level. (See CHECKING
BATTERY ELECTROLYTE LEVEL.)

CA UT/ON! Before you connect or disconnect charger
. . cables to battery, unplug the charger cord.
3. Connect the positive(+) charge cable to positive(+)
battery cable.
4. Connect the negative (-) charge cable to the
negative (-) battery cable.
5. Plug in the charger cord.
6. If battery needs complete charging, charge at 3 amps
constantly for 6 to 12 hours or 5 amps for 3 to 16 hours
using an automatic charger.
7. Unplug the charger cord. Remove the charger cables.
8. Install the battery.
Using a booster battery
CAUTION! battery gas is explosive.

- Keep all sparks and flames away.
- DO NOT charge a frozen battery.
- DO NOT connect booster battery (-) cable to starting
vehicle (-) terminal.
Connect cables in the order shown. Connect booster
negative (-) cable to engine ground away from battery
last.
