Laica TH3302 Instructions And Warranty

Overview

Before use, read the instructions and warnings given in this handbook carefully and keep the handbook in a safe place.

Digital thermometer with a large LCD display for easy reading. It measures body temperature in 60 seconds. Fast and accurate fitted with a sound signal when the temperature reading has been taken. Stores the last read temperature, to evaluate any variations. Extremely easy to use, it is kept in a practical case to avoid risk of breaking. With flexible probe and automatic switching-off function.

GENERAL WARNINGS

  1. Self-measuring means control, not diagnosis and treatment, any unusual readings must be discussed with your doctor. Under no circumstances must you change the medicine doses that have been prescribed by your doctor.
  2. Do not squeeze, bend, drop or break the thermometer.
  3. Keep it out of the reach of children.
  4. Do not expose to sunrays or direct sources of heat. Keep in a dry clean place.
  5. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids, only the probe is waterproof.
  6. This thermometer reads only the armpit, rectal or oral temperature. Do not use it for reading auricolar temperatures.
  7. Do not drink hot or cold drinks, do not smoke, do not take a shower before measuring body temperature.

INSERTING/REPLACING THE BATTERIES

  1. Pull the battery cover in the direction shown on the arrow.
  2. Carefully extract the battery compartment to the right to ease the battery removal. Use a pointed object to remove the old batteries.
  3. Place the new batteries with the positive pole (+) pointed upwards and the negative pole pointed downwards.
  4. Gently push the battery compartment into its seat and re-assemble the cover. Should the display show the symbol " ", it means that they have to be replaced.
  5. Remove the used batteries as described under points 1-2 and dispose of them as special waste at the collection points for recycling.

For further information concerning the disposal of exhausted batteries, refer to the store where the device containing the batteries was purchased, the Municipality or the local waste disposal service.

For safety reasons, it is recommended never to allow children younger than 12 years to remove the batteries.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Before and/or after each use, disinfect the probe using alcohol.

ORAL AND RECTAL USE

  1. Switch on the thermometer by pressing the O/I key, the device emits a short acoustic signal. On the display, all function symbols switch on, just for few seconds. Then, the thermometer shows for few seconds the last measurement performed, followed by Lo°C (if the detected temperature is lower than 32°C) or Hi°C (if the detected temperature is greater than 42.9°C). When the symbol °C blinks, the device is ready for use.
  2. Position the probe as follows: ORAL USE: before the measurement close the mouth for about 5 minutes to stabilize the temperature. Position the probe under the tongue and close the mouth till the thermometer measures the temperature. The standard temperature for this type of measurement is 37°C. RECTAL USE: lubricate the probe using a jelly water-soluble solution. Do not use Vaseline. Insert the probe in the rectum for about 1 cm till temperature stabilizes (about 60 seconds). The standard temperature for this type of measurement is 37.5°C.

UNDERARM USE

For underarm use, proceed as follows:

  1. Dry the underarm very well. Before the measurement keep the arm along the hip for 5 minutes to stabilize the temperature. Position the probe under the underarm and keep the arm well pressed against the chest. (This prevents the room temperature, in which one is, from influencing the correct measurement of body temperature).
  2. Press the key O/I. The device emits a short acoustic signal. On the display all function symbols do switch on, just for few seconds. Then, the thermometer shows for few seconds the last measurement performed, followed by Lo°C (if the detected temperature is lower than 32°C) or Hi°C (if the detected temperature is greater than 42.9°C). When the symbol °C blinks, the device is ready for use. The temperature stabilizes after about 60 seconds. The standard temperature for this type of measurement is 36.5°C.
  3. When the device emits the acoustic signal, remove it. The measurement has ended and it is shown on the display. When the detected temperature exceeds 37.8°C, the intensity and frequency of the acoustic signal increase.
The device switches off automatically after 10 minutes, if it is not used (meanwhile the measurement remains displayed); otherwise, it can be switched off using the key O/I.

MAINTENANCE

Clean the thermometer probe using a cloth moistened with alcohol or with any type of topic disinfectant before and/ or after each use. Any other type of solution can damage the device. The thermometer body has to be cleaned using a dry cloth. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or other liquids.

Never use chemical or abrasive products.

The probe is the most fragile part of the thermometer. Pay utmost care during its cleaning. Do not use alcohol to clean the display. Preserve the thermometer in a dry and clean place, away form direct sunlight. Do not sterilize or boil the thermometer. Preserve the thermometer carefully in its standard-supplied casing.
