Thank you for purchasing a Sealey jack. This product is manufactured to a high standard of dependability, and if correctly cared for, will give you
years of trouble free performance.
IMPORTANT
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. NOTE THE SAFE OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, WARNINGS, AND CAUTIONS. USE THIS JACK
CORRECTLY, AND WITH CARE, FOR THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH IT IS INTENDED. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE DAMAGE, OR PERSONAL
INJURY AND WILL INVALIDATE THE WARRANTY.
1. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
! Ensure the jack is in sound condition and good working order. Take action for immediate repair or replacement of damaged parts.
Use recommended parts only. The use of improper parts may be dangerous and will invalidate the warranty.
! Keep the jack clean for best and safest performance.
! Locate the jack in an adequate, well lit working area.
! Keep working area clean and tidy and free from unrelated materials.
! Use jack on level and solid ground, preferably concrete. Avoid tarmacadam since jack may sink in.
! Place wedges under wheels of vehicle (but ensure wheels of jack can freely move).
! Ensure the vehicle handbrake is engaged, the engine is switched off and the transmission is in 1st gear (or in “PARK” if automatic).
! Ensure minimum distance of 0.5m between vehicle tilt & static objects such as doors, walls, etc.
! Ensure all non-essential persons keep a safe distance whilst the jack is in use.
! Ensure there are no passengers in the vehicle which is to be jacked up.
! Place jack under vehicle manufacturer’s recommended lifting points (see vehicle hand book).
! Check that the lifting point is stable and centred on the jack saddle.
! Ensure the jack wheels are free to move and that there are no obstructions.
!DANGER: Use the jack for lifting only, NOT for supporting the lifted load.
! Use correct axle stands under the vehicle before proceeding with any task.
! Use a qualified person to lubricate and maintain the jack.
!Confirm that the recommended hydraulic oil is used during maintenance.
%DO NOT operate the jack if damaged.
%DO NOT allow untrained persons to operate the jack.
%DO NOT exceed the rated capacity of the jack.
%DO NOT allow the vehicle to move during jacking.
%DO NOT use the jack to move vehicle.
%DO NOT jack a vehicle if there is a risk of spillage of fuel, battery acid,
or other dangerous substances or a risk of load movement.
%DO NOT work under the vehicle until axle stands have been correctly positioned.
%DO NOT use the jack for purposes other than which it is intended.
%DO NOT top up system with brake fluid. Use hydraulic oil only.
%DO NOT alter the pressure control valve.
!Store jack in a dry, childproof area when not in use, and in its down position.
2. ASSEMBLY & SPECIFICATIONS
2.1. Loosen the thumbscrew at the side of the
handle base.
2.2. Insert jack handle and tighten thumbscrew until
it locates in the groove in the handle.
2.3. Check that the handle can be lifted and rotated
by approximately 20mm.
2.4. Remove transit plug from air system ‘Y’
connector (Part No.1184) and insert air
pipe which protrudes from base of handle.
3. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
3.1. Before using the jack, purge the hydraulic circuit in order to remove any air from the system.
a) Open the release valve by turning the handle clockwise.
b) Pump handle several times to ensure full internal lubrication and to bleed any air from system.
c) Release the handle to close the release valve when done.
3.2. If air is to be used, confirm air pressure is within specified range and then connect air supply to
coupling on handle.
IMPORTANT Air supply must have a water separator and oiler within 16 metres (52 feet) of
the jack otherwise warranty will be invalidated.
3.3. Prepare the vehicle as mentioned in the safety instructions ensuring the ground
on which the jack is to stand is level and solid (not tarmacadam).
3.4. Position the jack saddle under the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended lifting point. Ensure that the jack is at a right angle (90°) to the
vehicle. Deviations either side of the 90° will exert additional stress on the lifting arm which is dangerous (see fig.1).
