Opening the Hood for Maintenance
There are two fixed points to prop up the hood: one for
normal maintenance, and a second one for service that
requires a wider hood opening. For the wider opening,
remove the support rod from the normal position and
insert it into the fender bracket hole under the fender
trim on the passenger's side of the vehicle.
NOTE: The hood can be damaged if it is opened too
far.

Active Headrests
The front seats are equipped with an active head
restraint system to help protect the driver and front
passenger during a rear-end collision. Do not attach
anything to the headrest posts as it will prevent the
active headrests from functioning. If the vehicle has
been in a collision, inspect the active headrests using
the function check method in the service manual.
Replace the seat frame if the function check shows any
problems.
Front Passenger's Seat Belt Stop
The front passenger's seat belt stop is positioned lower
than the driver's side to prevent the seat belt buckle
from hitting against the seat and making a rattling
noise.
FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT STOP
Opening the Tailgate From Inside the Vehicle
The tailgate can be opened from inside the vehicle.
Remove the maintenance lid from the tailgate panel,
and push the lock lever in the direction of the arrow.
