    Congratulations on the purchase of your new audifon hearing aids. Your hearing care professional has adjusted the hearing aids to your individual requirements. These instructions are therefore intended to help you use your audifon hearing aids properly. Please read through the following operating and care instructions carefully to avoid malfunctions and faults.

    2 Safety instructions 2.1 Important warnings Keep batteries, hearing aids and tinnitus retraining instruments away from children and pets. There is a risk of swallowing!     Devices with the Auto T-Coil/Auto Phone function include a magnet. Please therefore observe the following safety instructions: Keep magnets away from children. If a magnet is  swallowed, contact a doctor immediately. Magnets can cause malfunctions in life-support  equipment (e.g. pacemakers, magnetic valves etc.). Only use magnets if you are sure of the safety distances.
  • Page 8 Do not force the battery into the battery compartment. If it does not fit, check whether you are inserting it correctly and that it is the correct type of battery. If you are not going to use your devices for a long period, remove the battery to increase its life expectancy, to avoid leakage and to prevent corrosion on the battery contacts.

    In-The-Ear via pro IS+ In-The-Ear We recommend you use audifon zinc air batteries. Please follow the instructions on the battery packaging. Please dispose of used batteries in the appropriate containers at your health care professional’s premises. Always switch your hearing aid off after use.

    5 via pro R 5.1 Construction Your CROS/BiCROS system consists of a transmitter and receiver, which include the following elements: Receiver unit Dome Concha clip (optional) Microphone inlets Rocker switch Battery compartment and ON/OFF switch Note: Your hearing aids may differ from the illustrations.

    5.2 Start-up To start your hearing aids first insert a battery in the battery compartment. Remove a battery from its packaging. Note: If you are using zinc-air batteries, remove the protective film and wait a few minutes before inserting. Open the battery compartment carefully with your fingernail at the opening edge and swing it right out.

    5.3 Switching the hearing aids on and off Your devices are switched on and off via the battery compartment. Switching on Close the battery compartment securely by moving it past the OFF position detent into the casing. You will feel the battery compartment clicking into place as you close it.

    5.5 Volume and program selection 5.5.1 Multifunctional rocker switch Your devices feature a multifunctional rocker switch for controlling the volume and selecting the different programs. The rocker switch can be activated by pressing the top end (+) and the bottom end (–). The rocker switch can be programmed with one of three functions.

    5.5.2 Volume selection The volume can be adjusted in steps using the rocker switch. Briefly pressing the top end of the switch increases the volume, while briefly pressing the bottom end reduces the volume. When you switch your devices on, they will be set at the volume programmed for you.

    5.5.3 Selecting the hearing programs Sound Dynamix via pro hearing aids feature automatic situation recognition, i.e. the program is automatically adjusted to your hearing environment. The hearing aids can recognise six different situations: quiet, speech in a quiet setting, speech in interference, noise, wind and music.
  • Page 19 Hearing program Description of setting Automatic telephone program via pro hearing aids can automatically switch to an adapted telephone program as soon as you hold a telephone receiver (with magnetic sticker) to your ear. This option can be enabled in addition to the Sound Dynamix hearing program.

    5.5.4 Changing the earwax protection filter Hearing aids with an external receiver are equipped with a protective filter to prevent earwax building up on the inside of the receiver. The filter must be replaced regularly to ensure your hearing aids function perfectly. To replace the filter, proceed as follows: First remove the dome from the receiver unit and clean it.

    6.2 Start-up To start your hearing aids first insert a battery in the battery compartment. Remove a battery from its packaging. Note: If you are using zinc-air batteries, remove the protective film and wait a few minutes before inserting. From below, push the battery compartment up until it clicks into the first detent position (OFF position).

    6.3 Switching the hearing aids on and off Switching on Your hearing aids are switched on and off via the battery compartment. Close the battery compartment securely by moving it past the OFF position detent into the casing. You will feel the battery compartment clicking into place as you close it.

The rocker switch allows you to switch between the hearing programs. Simply hold down one end of the rocker switch until you hear audible confirmation of the change of program.

    6.4 Direct Audio Input (optional) Selected hearing systems offer the possibility of direct, uninterrupted connection to external battery-powered devices such as portable MP3 player via the Direct Audio Input socket. You need a compatible battery compartment when using an audio shoe with your hearing systems. If necessary, the battery compartment can be exchanged by your hearing care specialist.

    6.5 Care instructions Do not use a damp cloth to clean your hearing aids. Always use a soft, dry cloth. The ear adapter pieces and the flexible plastic tubing attached to them must be detached from the ear hook before cleaning.

    7.6 Care instructions Do not use a damp cloth to clean your hearing aids. Always use a soft, dry cloth. Your hearing aids feature earwax protection to prevent earwax building up inside. This must be cleaned or replaced at regular intervals to protect the electronics of the hearing aids.

    8 Automatic telephone program via pro hearing aids feature telephone programs that are enabled automatically. The hearing aids can automatically switch either to T-Coil (Auto T-Coil) or a acoustical telephone program for telephony (Auto Phone). To prevent the hearing aids from accidentally switching program during a telephone call, the program switch is disabled during this time.
  • Page 38 Auto Phone Automatic switching to an acoustic telephone program can be used with conventional landline and mobile phones and optimises reproduction for telephony. Affixing the optional magnetic sticker increases the reliability of the switching function. Familiarise yourself with how the automatic telephone program switching function works before making a call.

    9 Care instructions audifon hearing aids will improve your hearing and quality of life. audifon offers special care products to guarantee optimum cleaning of your hearing aids so they function perfectly and to ensure your lasting enjoyment in being able to hear better.

    If you dry your hearing aids carefully, this will greatly increase their service life. You can proceed in one of two ways. If you have an audifon dry star UV or dry go drying station, you can use this for drying. Please see the relevant info sheet for further details.
  • Page 41 The audifon dry go is the ideal solution for drying your hearing systems when you are away from home. Once connected for example to the USB port on your laptop, you can start the drying program at the touch of a button. The flow of warm air inside the audifon dry go will ensure reliable drying of your hearing aids.
