This MiniDrone quick start guide gives you just the main instructions. You will find full documentation on our Website www.parrot.com/uk/support/jumping-race-drone.

Charging the battery

  1. Insert the battery into the appropriate compartment (pictures A and B).
  2. Connect the MiniDrone (pictures C and D):
  • To a 2.4 A minimum charger (not provided). The charging time is approximately 25 minutes.
  • To your computer using the USB cable (provided). The charging time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  1. To remove the battery, lift the part located above the battery and slide it backwards.

Downloading the application

Connect to the App StoreSM or on Google PlayTM and download the FreeFlight3 app free of charge.

Connecting a smartphone

  1. Search for available Wi-Fi® networks on your smartphone:
  • If you are using an iPhone or an iPad, go to Settings> Wi-Fi
  • If you are using an Android phone, go to Settings > Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi.
  1. Select the MiniDrone network.
  2. Wait for your smartphone to connect to the MiniDrone Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi symbol will usually appear on your smartphone when connection is complete.
  3. Run the FreeFlight app, then press Start.

Piloting the Minidrone

Slide the left-hand joystick upwards or downwards to make the MiniDrone go forwards or backwards.

Push the left-hand joystick and tilt your smartphone left or right to turn the MiniDrone left or right.

On the right of the screen, slide one finger from left to right to execute a quarter turn to the right and from right to left for a quarter turn to the left. Slide your finger from top to bottom to make a half-turn.

Press to choose an action for the MiniDrone (jump/ auto-balance/kicker).

Press to select and run a pre-programmed acrobatic.

Talking through your Minidrone

Plug your headset into your smartphone (photo E).

You can then talk into your phone headset and the MiniDrone will repeat what you say.

Taking a photo or video

  1. Taking a video is automatic. It stops when you plug your headset into your smartphone.
  2. Press to take a photo.

Jumping

Press to do a high jump. Press to do a long jump. If the key is greyed out, do a high jump first to authorise a long jump.

Before making a jump, you will need to press down on the MiniDrone spring coil. This can be done just before performing the jump, in which case, you will need to allow for a few seconds' delay before jumping.

To prepare for a jump, slide the key to the left; this will compress the spring which can then be released immediately by pressing the or key.

Rrecautions for use and maintenance

The MiniDrone is not suitable for children under 14 years of age.

To reduce the risk of damage, we recommend that you bring the MiniDrone down in increments of approximately 80cm.

There are some public places (stations, airports etc.) and roads where you may not be permitted to use your MiniDrone.

It is recommended that the MiniDrone be used indoors. If sand or dust gets into the MiniDrone, irreversible damage may be caused and it will not be able to operate properly. Do not land the MiniDrone on water or on any damp surface. Do not use this device close to any liquid substances. Do not leave the MiniDrone in direct sunlight. Do not point the jump mechanism towards a person or an animal. Only use accessories specified by the manufacturer.

Notice regarding the right to privacy

Recording and circulating the image or voice of a person without their authorisation could constitute an infringement of their image and privacy rights and incur your liability. Ask for authorisation before filming people and recording their voice, particularly if you want to keep your recordings and/or circulate them on the Internet. Do not circulate any degrading images or sounds or which could undermine the reputation or dignity of an individual.

Recycling this product

The symbol on this product and on its literature shows that at the end of its life, it is not to be disposed of with household waste. The uncontrolled disposal of waste is harmful to the environment: please separate this from other types of waste and dispose of responsibly. Private individuals are invited to contact the retailer who sold them the product or to ask advice from their local authority to find out how and where it can be recycled.

Battery

Failure to comply with instructions may cause permanent damage to the battery, its environment and may cause injury. Always use a LiPo battery charger. Never charge via a discharge lead. Never trickle charge or below 2.5 V. Never allow the battery temperature to exceed 60°C (140°F). Never disassemble or modify the wiring in the battery pack or puncture the battery cell. Never place the battery on top of combustible materials or leave it unattended during charging. Always charge in a fireproof location. Always make sure that the charger output voltage corresponds to the battery voltage. Always keep out of the reach of children. Incorrect use of the battery can cause fires, explosions or other damage.

The battery terminals should not be allowed to short-circuit. The product should be connected only to class II appliances which display the symbol.

FCC/IC (RF EXPOSURE)

To meet the requirements of the FCC/IC on exposure to RF for transmission devices, a distance of at least 20 cm must be maintained between the product aerial and people. To ensure compliance, it is not recommended that the device be used at any shorter distance.


This device may be used in: DE, AT, BE, BG, CY, HR, DK, ES, EE, FI, FR, GR, HU, IE, IT, LV, LT, LU, MT, NL, PL, PT, CZ, RO, GB, SK, SI, SE.

Restrictions on use outdoors in European Union member states relate only to the 1st channel of band 5Ghz (5150-5250 MHz).
