  • Page 25 SECTION VI GENERAL FACILITIES AND TEST PROCEDURES Incoming Calls An incoming call will ring the operators telephone and if not answered within time period, will also activate system bells (AC bells) as required by the subscriber. Calls can be answered direct by the operator, or any extension may answer by dialling 2 or 20 (Universal Pick-up).

  • Page 31 SECTION VII OPERATIONAL FEATURES EXTENSION TO EXTENSION CALL Each of the extensions in the SBX system is allocated a 2 digit number. Dialling an extension number will cause the dialled extension to ring with internal call cadence. The prime extension is hardware fixed and this extension may be called using a single digit number.
  • Page 32: Enquiry Call

PRIME EXTENSION INCOMING CALL PICKUP If the prime extension is the only extension with direct call pickup enabled, all incoming calls will ring the prime extension telephone, followed by the system bell if this extension is not answered within 10 seconds. The calls are available for pickup in order of arrival. ENQUIRY CALL When an extension is connected to an external call an enquiry call may be made to another extension.
  • Page 33: Call Park And Retrieve

CALL PARK AND RETRIEVE An external call on Hold can be Parked by dialling a 2 digit parking slot number. If the parking slot is already occupied Dial Tone is returned and another parking slot can be dialled. When a call has successfully Parked, the extension will receive Confirmation Tone and the external caller will hear Waiting Tone.
  • Page 34 For a ringback request, no other extensions can have access to that particular trunk, during the 15 second ringback to that extension. Only one ringback is permitted at a time per extension. The latest ringback request overwrites any previous ringback from that extension. Ringback cannot be requested to a paging extension.
  • Page 35 Intrusion Tone is heard by all 3 parties. Return to the call on hold is by the intruding extension, hook flashing. Hang up by the intruding extension, camps a trunk call on to the requested phone. A mix of electronic and rotary dials is not compatible for intrusion on a trunk since hook flashing or dial pulses by a rotary dial extension may result in dropping the electronic phone.
  • Page 36: Abbreviated Dialling

For Camp On calls, after 10 seconds a ring, the call will divert to the Diverted “TO” extension for a further 25 seconds before returning to the originator of the call. The call will not divert if the diverted “TO” extension is busy or on lockout. ABBREVIATED DIALLING Abbreviated dialling is only available to Mark 3 systems and can only be used in two ways: Own extension repertory numbers.
  • Page 37 Last Number Redial: Last number redial is available to all models of SBX8 and SBX12. Last number redial is automatically stored for all digits outdialled before the line connect is made. Access to the last number redial is by dialling 45.
