ISOLATORS-EX
The cable glands used must be suited to the cable entries. Store the product in the warehouse inside its original packaging in order
to protect it from dust or humidity.
The switch-disconnector in metal enclosure must be installed intact and with no damage, so that dust cannot penetrate inside
the enclosure.
Before you open the cover of the ISOLATORS-EX Series switch-disconnector in metal enclosure, cut out the power supply or make
sure the atmosphere is not dangerous. These operations must be carried out by expert and duly trained personnel.
CAUTION: AFTER CUTTING OUT THE POWER SUPPLY,
WAIT 30 MINUTES BEFORE OPENING THE ENCLOSURE.
Instructions for correct installation of the switch - disconnector in enclosure:
1) Read the installation, use and maintenance instructions for switch-disconnectors in metal enclosures.
2) Using the fixing dimensions shown in Figure 1 and in Figure 2, mark the positions of the fixing holes on the installation wall.
3) Drill the fixing holes on the installation wall and thread the holes (if required).
4) Remove the device from its package, making sure that it has not been damaged during shipping.
5) Check that the cover and the base are clean and free from defects.
6) Make sure that the gasket between cover and base is intact.
7) Place the base in the assembly position on the installation wall, using any assistance necessary in order to prevent accidents.
8) Secure the device by repeating the following operations for each fixing hole:
- Insert the fixing screw into the hole
- Tighten the bolt or tighten the fixing screw completely.
9) Make sure the fixing is secure.
10) Proceed with the assembly of the cable glands according to the manufacturer's instructions.
11) Insert the cables in the device, being careful to secure the cable armours (if applicable).
12) Proceed with the wiring before you close the switch-disconnector in metal enclosure.
13) Make sure that all foreign materials have been removed from inside the device; do not leave these instructions inside.
14) Check that the gaskets are intact and properly installed.
15) Close the cover by duly tightening the screws in order to guarantee the IP degree of protection. The tightening torque of the
screws is 2 Nm.
16) Keep these instructions in a safe place for future reference.
17) Connect the external earthing cable as described in 4.1.
4.2 WIRING OF THE TERMINALS
The wiring must be carried out according to the highest standards. Use only equipment of the proper size for the wiring.
Each terminal can host a single conductor. The electrical cables must have insulation suited for the voltage.
Unused terminals must be completely tightened.
4.3 EARTHING PROTECTION
The ISOLATORS-EX Series device must be connected to protection/earthing circuits in compliance with the installation
rules of the system.
The internal/external earth terminal must be connected to an equipotential protection or earthing circuit prior to powering the device.
4.4 CABLE GLANDS
Use only ATEX cable glands suited for the substances, temperatures and installation zone (marked II 2D Ex tb IIIC with minimum
degree of protection IP65). Make sure that the selected cable glands are suited for the cables, so as to prevent any loosening and
guarantee a permanent seal against humidity and dust.
Unused cable entries, if open, must be closed with ATEX-certified plugs suited for the substances, temperatures and installation
zone (marked II 2D Ex tb IIIC with minimum degree of protection IP65).
For the use of cable glands, subject to separate certification, follow the manufacturer's instructions.
- The maximum number of cable glands (or plugs) that can be installed in shown in Table 3.
- Provide a power supply cable suited for the maximum entry temperature; see Table 3.
