Audio

Vehicle equipment
This chapter describes equipment, systems and
functions which are offered or will be offered on
a model-specific basis, even if they are not inclu‐
ded in the vehicle in question.

General
It is possible to play music tracks, audiobooks
and podcasts.
Depending on the equipment, the following au‐
dio sources can be used:
Icon
Meaning
USB audio.
Bluetooth audio.
Connected Music.
USB audio
Compatible formats
MP3, MP4, M4A, M4B, AAC, WMA, FLAC.
Audio players and storage media with
USB port
Information on all music tracks, for example artist,
genre or title, as well as the playlists are transfer‐
red to the vehicle. The transmission of the infor‐
mation may take some time, depending on the
USB device, file size, and number of tracks.

During transfer, the music tracks can be called
up via the file directory.
The information for approximately 40,000 music
tracks can be stored in the vehicle, but no more
than 16,000 music tracks per USB device.
Music tracks with integrated Digital Rights Man‐
agement DRM cannot be played.
Selecting the USB device

Connect the USB device to the USB port.
Preferably use the adapter cable supplied
with the USB device.

Select "USB" or name of the USB device.

Bluetooth audio
General
Playback of music files via Bluetooth from ex‐
ternal devices, for example audio devices or
mobile phones.
The volume of the sound output may depend
on the device. In this case, change the vol‐
ume control on the device.
Depending on the equipment, up to four ex‐
ternal devices can be connected to the vehi‐
cle. Two of these devices can be used for
Bluetooth audio.
With Bluetooth devices, the extent of func‐
tions that can be operated using iDrive may
be restricted depending on the supported
Bluetooth version. If necessary, the missing
functions can be operated directly on the de‐
vice.
