ƒ Increase in cooling water inlet
temperature
ƒ Scaled cooler
ƒ Increased sample flow
ƒ Plugged line
ƒ Loose or worn packing
ƒ Loose housing from thermal shock
or worn gasket
remedy
ƒ Check cooling water supply
ƒ Reduce cooling water temperature or
increase flow
ƒ Chemically clean (see cooler maintenance)
ƒ Adjust sample flow rate
ƒ Blow down line and exercise flow control
valve
ƒ Inspect and/or replace needle assembly
ƒ Tighten packing nut or replace packing
ƒ Tighten bolts on head assembly or replace
gasket if cut or worn
