    Chapter 1 Product Overview System Requirements The system should be an IBM PC compatible computer that includes a CD-ROM drive and at least one USB 2.0 port.     Chapter 2 Installation Installing Wireless Drivers Follow the procedure below to install drivers. Do not connect the AirStation to your computer until after drivers are installed. Windows Boot your computer and insert the AirStation Driver CD. The setup menu will launch automatically. If it does not, open the CD and click “Launcher.exe”.
  • Page 6 Click Next. Read the license agreement; select Agree and click Next. Check “Always trust software from “BUFFALO INC. ” and click Install.
  • Page 7 When the screen below is displayed, connect the AirStation to your computer. Drivers will be installed automatically. After the drivers are installed, the screen below will be displayed. Click Finish. Drivers are now installed.

    Mac users will need to download the drivers and supporting utility from Buffalo’s website. At this time, do not connect the AirStation to the Mac yet. Use Mac’s internal Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet. Go to “http://d.buffalo.jp/wi-u2-433dm/” and select your region.
  • Page 9 Click Continue. If “Select a Destination” page appears, select the appropriate user group and click Continue again. Click Install. Note: If you are asked to enter a password, enter your login password. Click Continue Installation.
  • Page 10 Click Restart. After rebooting, the utility will open automatically. Drivers and the utility are now installed. To use the utility, refer to “OS X (Mac Utility)” in chapter 3.

    Chapter 3 Connect to a Wireless Network Windows 8.1, Windows 8 (WLAN AutoConfig) With Windows 8.1 or Windows 8, use WLAN AutoConfig to connect to a wireless access point. Switch to desktop mode. Click on the network icon in the system tray. Select the target access point and click Connect.

    Click No, don’t turn on sharing or connect to devices. Windows 7 (WLAN AutoConfig) With Windows 7, use WLAN AutoConfig to connect to a wireless access point. Click on the network icon in the system tray. Select the target access point and click Connect. If you will be connecting to this device again, check Connect automatically.

    Windows Vista (WLAN AutoConfig) You can use WLAN AutoConfig to connect to a wireless access point: Right-click on the wireless network icon in the system tray. Click Connect to a network. Select your wireless network and click Connect. If the screen below appears, click I want to enter the network key or passphrase instead and proceed to the next step.

    Windows XP (Wireless Zero Configuration) Windows XP includes a built-in utility to connect to your wireless access point. Note: If Client Manager 3 is installed on your computer, then Wireless Zero Configuration is disabled. Uninstall Client Manager 3 to use Wireless Zero Configuration, or just use Client Manager 3 to connect to the AirStation. Right-click on the wireless network icon in the system tray.

    OS X (Mac Utility) Mac users will need to use the utility installed with the drivers to connect to an access point. You can either manually configure the connection or use WPS to set it up automatically. Manual Configuration Connect the AirStation to the Mac and open “Wireless Network Utility” from the Launchpad.   • Page 18 Enter the network key. Enter the network key again in Confirm Network key field and click OK. Confirm that “Connected” is displayed in the Connection field. Your Mac is now connected to the access point.

    Using WPS If your access point supports WPS, you can use it to directly connect to the access point. You can use either the push- button method or the PIN method to start WPS.
