    CHAPTER 3: Installation 3.2 Installing the Modules Controlling Power to the Attached Devices Take these steps to install each of the Modules you’ll be using to control power to the ServLINK’s attached PC CPUs, routers, and other devices: 1. Power down the device that the Module will be power-controlling. 2.

    CHAPTER 3: Installation 3.3 After Installing the Modules Once you’ve installed all your Modules, cables, power cords, etc., your power- managed ServLINK system should be ready to be powered up. When you do so (see the next section), the ServLINK’s control software will automatically sense that you’ve added the Power Management Modules.

    CHAPTER 3: Installation 3.4 Initial Power-Up When all of your equipment is in place, take these steps to power up the devices at your local site: 1. Turn the Power Management Modules ON. 2. Turn ON the ServLINK by pressing the large button marked on the ServLINK’s front panel.

  • Page 20 CHAPTER 4: Operation The rear panel of the ServLINK Power Management Module, shown in Figure 4-2, has three RJ-45 jacks for control and communication: • The “DATA IN” jack receives control information from the ServLINK, through any lower-numbered Modules. • The “DATA OUT” jack sends data to, and receives data from, higher- numbered Modules in the daisychain or the optional pass-through device at the end of the chain.

Also, any active Power Management Modules are cleared (deactivated) during the polling process, which puts the daisychain into “pass-through mode.” If no Power Management Modules are detected during the polling process, an appropriate message is displayed, and the Activate, Settings, and Pass Through buttons on the right of the window are grayed out.
