ROGER TOUCHSCREEN PERSONAL DM SYSTEM - TIPS

Turning the Touchscreen ON

1. Hold down power button on the right side of the device for 3 seconds
until indicator lights flash green and the screen turns on.
2. Leave on all day. Use the mute function rather than turning off/on.
3. If blinking RED, the Roger Touch requires recharging.

Turning the Touchscreen OFF

1. At the end of the day, switch Roger Touchscreen Mic off by pressing the
ON/OFF button for 3 seconds.
2. A pop-up window will appear to confirm powering off. Tap the yes check
mark.
3. Charge daily with the correct USB charger or by placing in the charging rack.

Mute Function

1. Press the large microphone button on the bottom of the screen to mute.
LED will blink RED.
2. To unmute, repress the same button.

Sleeping Screen

To put the screen to sleep (saves battery life) or to wake up the screen, press the
ON/OFF button on the right side of the device.
Wearing the TouchScreen (Layard Microphone Mode)
The number one misuse of DM equipment is microphone placement.
Place lanyard around neck and use the length adjustment to move the top of the Roger Touch TO THE

STERNUM LEVEL.
It is critical that the microphone sit at the level of the sternum and it must not be obstructed by clothing or
●
accessories - as a result scarves and necklaces are discouraged.
Lanyard features safety breakaway for urgent removal.

Use with Small Groups (Small Group Microphone Mode)

Students who are hard of hearing report that listening to their peers is one of the most challenging listening
activities of their school day. Your student can use their TouchScreen in this mode to listen in small-group
situations comprising two to five students.
1. Place Roger Touchscreen Mic, flat, in center of table.
2. The microphone can be programed to automatically switch into Small Group Mode which captures the voice
of the current talker.
3. The microphone will also automatically stop sending voices to the DigiMaster tower so that the whole class
doesn't have to listen to the hard of hearing student's small group discussion.

Use with Peers (Pointing Microphone Mode)

Sometimes the person responsible for using the Roger Touchscreen is the student themselves. For example, they
may use the device as they walk from class to class. Pointing Mode allows a student to simply point the microphone
in the direction of the talker that they want to hear (range: 4 m / 13').
1. Student carries TouchScreen in hand.
2. The microphone will automatically switch into Pointing Mode and will capture the voice of the talker at
whom it is being pointed.
NOTE: The microphone modes (Lanyard, Small Group and Pointing) will switch automatically. The teacher or

student doesn't have to do anything. The corresponding mode icon will be visible in the status bar.
