Subject: Rattle Noise from rear spoiler when closing liftgate
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a rattle noise from the rear spoiler when closing the liftgate.
CAUSE
Depending on assembly variation of the rear spoiler, the clearance between the rear spoiler outer
panel and the inner bracket is smaller. As a result they interfere and exhibit a vibration noise during
the liftgate closing.
MASS PRODUCTION CHANGE

The thickness of the four protectors between the rear spoiler and the rear window glass has
been increased to give tension to the rear spoiler and to

Portions of the inner bracket, where the clearance between this and the outer panel is the
smallest, have been cut off a little to increase the clearance.

Remove the rear spoiler according to the procedure in the workshop manual “REAR SPOILER REMOVAL”. 2. Remove the protectors from the rear spoiler as shown below and clean the relevant area using the genuine part cleaner.
