SPECTRE 2 FULL BODY HARNESS
1. EU DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY
SpanSet UK Limited, Telford Way, Middlewich, Cheshire. CW10 0HX. United
Kingdom.
Declares that - Spectre 2 Full Body Harness (model number; 2002261)
Have been subject to an EU Type-Examination in accordance with Module B of the
PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and has been shown to satisfy the relevant
requirements of Annex II of this Regulation as a category III product through:
1. Examination of the relevant technical documentation
2. Testing to the following standard(s): EN361:2002
The product is identical to the PPE which is the subject of an EU Type-
Examination Certificate No. 715763 issued by:
BSI Group The Netherlands, 1066 EP Amsterdam, The Netherlands (Notified Body
No. 2797)
The product is subject to the procedures set out in Module D of the PPE
Regulation (EU) 2016/425 under the supervision of:

UKCA DECLARATION OF CONFORMITY
In accordance with Regulation 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment as
retained by UK law and amended, the Spectre 2 harness (2002261) product has
been assessed by UKCA Approved Body BSI (0086) under UKCA Type
Examination Certificate number 749881 and production is Quality Assured under
module D of the regulation audited by Approved Body BSI (0086), Kitemark Court,
Davy Avenue, Knowhill, Milton Keynes, MK5 8PP. United Kingdom.
The textile components of the harness are produced from Polyester. It is essential
that this product is sold to the end-user with the instructions in the correct
language of the country in which the product is to be used.
SpanSet recommends that where possible all PPE be personal issue.
2. ADDITIONAL WARNINGS
Persons using this product should be trained/competent in its use, or be under the
supervision of such a person.
Be aware of all medical conditions that could affect the safety of the user in normal and
emergency use.
A rescue plan should be in place to deal with any emergencies that may arise during
work.
No alterations, additions or repairs should be made to this equipment without the written
consent of SpanSet.
The equipment shall not be used outside its limitations, or for any other purpose than that
it is intended for.
The safe function of one item of equipment may interfere with the safe function of
another with certain combinations of equipment. Always check components within a
system are compatible before use.
In any fall-arrest system, the free space required below the user should always be
ensured.
If in any doubt about the use or care of SpanSet equipment, please contact SpanSet.
The user's safety depends on the continued efficiency and durability of the equipment.
3. FITTING AND USE INSTRUCTIONS
The SPECTRE 2 is an EN361 full body fall arrest harness designed for personal
fall protection for Users with a body mass of up to 100kg. The product must not be
overloaded or used outside its field of application; personal protection for work at
height. All Users must be trained in work at height activities to a level of
competency or must work under direct visual control of a competent person prior to
use of the product. Use of the product is at the Users own risk and the User
assumes responsible for any damages, injuries or death resulting from incorrect
use of the product in any manner whatsoever. If there is any doubt about the
correct use and application of this product do not use it and seek advice from a
competent person or from SpanSet UK Ltd.
HARNESS FITTING
Loosen the webbing at the shoulders, legs and chest adjustment buckles and put
the harness on across the shoulders.

Ensure that the sub-pelvic support strap is positioned underneath the buttock then
fasten the buckles at the leg loops and coarse adjust the webbing to fit. Check that
the webbing is not twisted.
Connect the buckle at the chest and coarse adjust the shoulder webbing to fit.
Check that the webbing is not twisted.
Adjust the length of the chest web to provide a comfortable but snug fit.
Tighten the webbing at the legs and shoulders equally to provide a comfortable but
snug fit. If the harness fit is uncomfortable loosen off the webbing and adjust again
until the desired fitting is achieved.
Stow any loose webbing under the provided web tidies.
WARNING! FAILURE TO ADJUST THE HARNESS TO A COMFORTABLY SNUG
FIT MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS DISCOMFORT OR INJURY IN A FALL ARREST
EVENT. THE HARNESS IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE PERSONAL PROTECTION
FOR WORKERS AT HEIGHT AND WORKS BEST WHEN FITTED AS TIGHTLY
AS COMFORT WILL ALLOW.
This harness is for use in a fall arrest system that has had a thorough risk-assessment
including an analysis of the clearance height necessary below the user to ensure safety.
Always thoroughly inspect all components before and after every use, pay particular
attention to the operation of connectors.
Ensure that all components used within the fall arrest system are compatible; if in doubt
seek advice from SpanSet.
Any karabiner, or connector used must comply with EN 362, and be securely locked to
prevent opening.
Additional lanyards or extension lanyards must comply with EN 354. The total assembly must
not exceed 2m in length.
Any anchorage point used should meet the requirements of EN795. We recommend that all
persons using fall-arrest equipment should take care to follow best practice procedures when
selecting anchor points and work positions. This means selecting lanyard anchor points at
or above shoulder height, wherever possible, and adjusting the harness correctly. This is
to reduce both the physical effects on the body of the user generated by the arrest of the fall,
and the distance fallen. Safe clearance above the hazard must always be ensured –
comply with user instructions for every component. Select anchor points that, in the event of
a fall, reduce the chance of you or your lanyard contacting with other parts of the structure.
When not using the lanyard (away from hazard), clip the anchor end onto your harness to
avoid unnecessary abrasion against the floor. During use protect all equipment from
sharp, or rough edges, and any chemicals. Avoid contact with hot surfaces and exposure
to hot gases such as those from blowlamps or welding torches.
4. INSPECTION AND EXAMINATION
Keep these instructions, or a copy, with the SPECTRE 2 Harness to aid future
inspection, and examination.
Current European standards state at least every 12 months the equipment must be
visually examined by a competent person authorised by SpanSet, and the results
recorded. SpanSet recommends inspection by a competent person every 6
months.
Particular attention should be paid to the following:-
Webbing: Check for cuts, cracks, tears, abrasion* and scorch marks, burns or
chemical attack.
Stitching: Look for broken stitch, loose or worn threads.
Metal ware: Inspect for signs of damage/distortion/corrosion, and correct operation
& locking of connectors.
Rope: Examine for any signs of wear/ abrasion, including inter-strand wear,
unravelling, extension and fusion.
* Local abrasion as distinct from general wear may be caused by the passage of
the webbing/rope over sharp edges or protrusions while under tension and may
cause serious loss of strength. Slight damage to outer fibres and occasional yarn
may be considered harmless but serious reduction in width or thickness of the
webbing/rope or serious distortion to the weave/lay pattern should lead to
rejection.
A SPECTRE Harness should be immediately removed from service after being
subjected to any fall, or if in any doubt about the lanyard's condition.
The SPECTRE Harness may be cleaned if required. The following procedure must
be adhered to. Use a mild detergent with hand hot water, using a cloth, or sponge
to wipe the lanyard and avoid over wetting. This procedure should then be
