Quidway® NetEngine 80E Core Router System Architecture
Quidway® NetEngine 80E Core Router
Overview
®
The Quidway
NetEngine 80E core routers ("NE80E" hereinafter) are an enhanced series of
Huawei NE80 routers and can provide 10G wire-speed interfaces. It is located at the core of the IP
backbone network, IP MAN and other large-scale IP networks. It can be networked with core
routers of the NE5000E and NE40E series to form an IP network solution of integral architecture
and clear hierarchy.
The NE80E now provides 640Gbps switching capacity, 320Gbps interface capacity and 400Mpps
packet forwarding rate. In the near future, these figures may increase greatly. It provides 22 slots in
total, two of which for Main Processing Unit (MPU) (working in the 1:1 backup mode), four for
Switching Fabric Unit (SFU) (working in the 1+3 backup mode) and the left for service boards.
Architecture
Based on distributed hardware forwarding and non-blocking switching technology, the NE80E
features carrier-class reliability, line rate forwarding, well proved QoS mechanism, rich variety of
service processing capabilities and excellent scalability. Therefore it can meet the raising demand
of data and Internet services for equipment on the backbone network.
