Quidway® S6500 Multiservice Switch Salience III Series Switch Engine
1 Active/Standby mode: If the active board is faulty, the standby one takes its role
and the original active one turns into the standby one. The service channel and
management channel of interface boards switch over to the new active board
synchronously, thus realizing smooth switchover without affecting the service.
Batch backup: After the standby board is started, the data between the active
board and the standby board are synchronized in batch and the
between the active and the standby boards are consistent.
Realtime backup: It is the process of synchronizing the status of active board
maintenance and change of data structure to the standby board in the
incremental mode after the batch backup.
Active/Standby switchover: When the active board is faulty or forcible switch
occurs through the manual maintenance command, the protocol module on the
standby host takes the protocol module on the active one to work.
Data smoothness: After the active/standby switchover, the standby board takes
over the entire system as the main control board. It actively communicates with
the interface board, and confirms and synchronizes the hardware state, link layer
state and configuration data, ensuring that the data and state in the entire
system maintenance are consistent. This ensures the normal running of system
after the active/standby switchover.
2 Load sharing: The Crossbar of two service boards bears a half traffic respectively.
When one of them is faulty, the traffic to this main control board will switch over to the
normal one, that is, the main control board in normal running bears all traffic. Where,
the Salience III and Salience III plus engines support working in the load sharing
mode.
