Lomanco Deck-Air DA-4 Quick Start Manual

Vent will help rid your attic of damaging heat and moisture when properly installed near the lower
attic space and used in conjunction with exhaust vents located near the ridge.
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING. Most codes concerning
residential attic ventilation require a balanced system of 50% exhaust ventilation and 50% intake
ventilation.
NOTE: Use the appropriate felt or waterproof underlayment for your region.
*WARNING: Before cutting the DA-4 ensure the correct end of the vent is being removed so the
molded end wall is facing out. The cut end should be placed against the next-to-last vent's end
wall.

Choose desired vent
termination method
and determine the
correct location for slot
terminations.
You can choose the
Straight Termination
as shown in (1A) or the
Tapered Termination as
shown in (1B).
Slot terminations should
be located as shown
for each termination
method.

Metal drip edge must be
installed before installing the
DA-4. Using a tape measure and
chalk line, mark the decking for a
1" wide ventilation slot.

Install DA-4 over the slot
using the termination method
previously selected.

Install underlayment on top of
the DA-4. This must be placed
under the next layer to ensure
roof drainage goes over the top
of the DA-4 vent.
LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY
Lomanco, Inc., warrants to the original owner of the Deck-Air®, Model DA-4, when installed in conjunction with new shingles and in strict
accordance with Lomanco's written installation instructions, the Deck-Air®, Model DA-4, is free from manufacturing defects for the lifetime
of the original owner, or for a shorter period of time equal to the warranty period of the new shingles. This warranty may be transferred
by the original purchaser to a new homeowner. The warranty will then cover a period of 50 years from the original installation date or
the warranty period of the shingles, whichever is shorter. This warranty does not cover damage of any kind resulting from improper
application, improper installation, fire, flood, earthquake, storm, tornado, or other acts of God. Lomanco's lifetime warranty is expressly
limited to the owner of a single family residence at the time of initial installation. This warranty will be limited to 50 years or the warranty
period of the shingles, whichever is shorter, for installations on buildings other than single family residences. Should any manufacturing
defect occur during the warranty period, Lomanco, Inc., at its sole discretion, will either (a) provide replacement part(s) for that portion of
the product deemed to be defective (not to include labor costs incurred in removing the defective part(s) or installing the replacement
part(s)), or (b) if Lomanco, Inc. is unable to provide replacement part(s) within a reasonable time, or at the consumer's discretion, refund
the consumer for the defective part(s) in an amount equal to the sum of the actual purchase price of the defective part(s).

Terminate all ventilation slots 6" from
inside of end walls on gable roofs. This
termination method is recommended
for gable end walls only.
The DA-4 should extend a minimum of 6"
past the end of the slot.

slot 7" from drip edge. Snap chalk
line at desired distance. Measure
up 1" from this line and snap 2nd
chalk line.

Terminate all ventilation slots 18" from:
•
Inside of end walls on gable roofs.
•
All hips and valleys.
•
Any structure or chimney that
penetrates the roof.
The DA-4 should extend a minimum of
12" past the end of the slot.

Cut the ventilation slot and
remove cut decking. Do Not cut
through rafters. Do Not over cut
the slot in length or width.

Fasten the DA-4 through the nail
holes using the 21/2" ring shank
nails provided. Leave 1/8" gap
between each vent to allow for
expansion in hot weather.

DA-4 Tapered termination allows a smooth
end taper to more aesthetically blend
shingles back into the roof profile.
Cut along marked guides and discard
cutout as shown.
Rotate end piece to create transition as
shown and nail into place.

Install underlayment on the roof
deck a minimum of 18" up deck
from drip edge covering the area
where the DA-4 will be installed.
Remove underlayment that
covers slot.

Cut the final section to
length according to selected
termination method.

With the DA-4 installed, continue with normal shingle installation.
