Troubleshooting

The Media Center Extender might display an error code on screen such as the following picture:
If this screen appears, the number in the triangle on the lower-left corner will be a 1, 2, 3, or 4. Use the
following table to determine what the error means and action you need to take to correct the error.

Code Error
1 The Media Center Extender is defective and must
be returned for repair.
2 The Media Center Extender software is either
damaged or missing and must be restored.
3 The Media Center Extender software update is
incorrect or the HP Media Center PC or HP Digital
Entertainment Center is not ready to upgrade.
4 There is a problem with the Media Center Ethernet
connection or the Ethernet cable is defective.
Update and Restore
You should update the Media Center Extender only if you are absolutely sure you should do so. If you are
having problems with your Media Center Extender and believe you need an update, contact HP for more
information.

such technology outside of this product is prohibited without a license from Microsoft Corporation or an
authorized Microsoft Corporation subsidiary.

Contact HP to determine how to return the Media
Center Extender.

Media Center Extender software.
Contact HP for more information about updating
the Media Center Extender software.
Make sure the Ethernet cable is properly installed
or replace the Ethernet cable with another one.
