  • Page 3 Quick Guide for First Installation The quick guide only describes the initial installation of the SIQENS Ecoport using the operating panel. A service technician needs to install the Ecoport first. This quick guide does not replace the operating manual, which is part of the delivery.

  • Page 5 Do not inhale exhaust air directly or permanently, but vent it to the outside. Do not smoke when handling the SIQENS fuel cell or the QE Charge methanol cartridges. Keep away from any heat and ignition sources.
  • Page 6 The Ecoport must be operated, stored, and transported in a horizontal position. The SIQENS fuel cell is not waterproof! Make sure that the device is installed in a water protected surrounding. Do not operate and store SIQENS fuel cell and SIQENS QE Charge methanol cartridges at temperatures above 50°C.

  • Page 8 CONTAMINED METHANOL CAUTION The original QE Charge methanol cartridges contain methanol that has been approved by SIQENS for usage with the Ecoport. Contamination or impurities in the methanol may cause irreversible damage to the unit and void the warranty or guarantee.
  • Page 9 SIQENS Ecoport Safety instructions for handling batteries In case of emergencies, work on electrical systems and batteries NOTICE should only be conducted if there is another person present. The following points must be observed in addition to the instructions of the battery manufacturer.
  • Page 10 Quick Guide Only use cycle-resistant, deep-discharge capable batteries, no WARNING starter batteries. Never charge frozen batteries. Avoid short-circuits. Ensure good ventilation of the battery to dissipate any gases. Carefully lay the battery connection cable and check for improper heating under load. Periodically check the battery in the area of vibrating components for chafing and insulation problems.

    Check that the inlet and outlet is firmly fitted ■ Covers and blockages must be removed. Ensure that the exhaust air outlet and the supply air inlet are free of clogging. Please refer to the operating manual for further information or NOTICE contact the SIQENS support.
  • Page 18 Quick Guide Connect the methanol cartridge Connect the QE Charge methanol cartridge or the external tank to the methanol supply line (1.5 m) of the Ecoport. Use the enclosed barrel wrench to open and close the cartridge. For a detailed description, please refer to the operating manual 4.3. Connecting the methanol supply.

    SIQENS Ecoport Connect the battery Insert the battery cable into the battery plug of the Ecoport. The red contact of the battery cable must be connected to the positive pole (+) of the battery. The black contact of the battery cable must be connected to the negative pole (-) of the battery.
  • Page 20 Quick Guide Connect the control panel Use the data cable (Ethernet RJ-45) included in the accessories to connect the Ecoport to the control panel. As soon as the Ecoport is connected to a battery, the control panel automatically establishes a connection. This requires no further input...

    SIQENS Ecoport Initial start At the first start, the Ecoport is in manual mode. Perform the following settings to select the desired operating mode. Further information on how to use the control panel can be found in the operating manual.
  • Page 22 Quick Guide Automatic operation via the battery voltage In battery voltage operation, the Ecoport starts automatically as soon as the battery reaches a preset voltage threshold. Select “Battery voltage” in the “Startup” menu.
  • Page 23 Next, set the switch-on voltage. Confirm your selection by clicking "Apply". Do not select the start voltage threshold too low. Approx. NOTICE 200 Wh for the Ecoport 800 and 240 Wh for the Ecoport 1500 are required from the battery for the startup.
  • Page 24 Quick Guide Set upper voltage threshold (stop) Then select the upper voltage threshold under "Settings" in the "Battery" menu item. Once the battery reaches this voltage, the Ecoport will stop charging. Recommended values for the upper voltage threshold of various battery types are already specified in the control panel.
  • Page 25 SIQENS Ecoport Set tank level Select the "Refill" option in the "Tank" menu. You can choose between preselected container sizes or specify the refill by volume individually.
  • Page 26 Quick Guide First start of the Ecoport Carry out the first start of the Ecoport by clicking the button "Start manually". The heating phase starts automatically. After approx. 30 minutes, the Ecoport starts charging the battery. You can interrupt this process at any time.
