Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
Engine does not turn over.
Engine turns over, but does not
start.
Engine lacks power, runs rough,
backfires, etc.
Tool used with power unit
inoperative.
Greenlee Textron / Subsidiary of Textron Inc.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Battery weak or dead.
Battery cables corroded.
Electrical short, broken wire or loose
connection.
Engine starter inoperative.
No fuel in tank.
A flow handle is in the 5 or 10 gpm
position.
Electric short, broken wire or loose
connection.
Both flow valves are in NEUTRAL
position.
Tool is a Closed-Center system type.
No hydraulic fluid in system or fluid
level low.
Incorrect hydraulic fluid viscosity.
Hydraulic filter needs service.
Power unit components (pump, valve,
etc.) worn or damaged.
Engine output insufficient. Engine
needs adjustment, tune-up, etc.

POSSIBLE REMEDY
Recharge or replace battery.
Clean battery cable terminals or
replace cables.
Check wires and connections.
Repair or replace.
Repair or replace starter. See
engine operator's manual.
Fill fuel tank.
Move handle to the NEUTRAL position.
Check wires and connection.
Repair or replace.
See engine operator's manual.
Move flow valve to proper gpm
position.
Use only Open-Center system tools.
Check fluid level. Fill to FULL mark.
Check system for leaks.
Use fluid viscosity recommended.
See recommended Hydraulic Fluids.
Replace hydraulic filter.
Repair or replace components.
See engine operator's manual.
