Pre-operation checks

Bilge water check

Make sure that no bilge water has collected in
the engine compartment. If bilge water has
collected in the engine compartment drain it.
(See page 91 for information on draining the
bilge water.)

Drain plug check

Loosen the drain plug and remove them, and
then make sure that the plug and the O-ring
on the hull drain plug are not damaged and
that there is no foreign material on the
threads or the O-ring on the hull drain plug.
NOTICE: Before installing the drain plug,
clean the drain plug threads and the O-
ring on the hull drain plug to remove any
foreign materials, such as dirt or sand.
Otherwise, the drain plug could be dam-
aged, allowing water to enter the engine
compartment or the fuel tank compart-
ment. Make sure that the drain plug is
tightened securely before launching the
boat. Otherwise, water may flood the boat
and cause it to submerge.
Securely install the drain plug by tightening it
until it stop.

Blower checks

Gasoline vapors can explode. Before
starting the engines, check the engine
compartment for gasoline, gasoline va-
pors, and loose electrical connections,
and then operate the blowers for at least 4
minutes. Do not start the engines or oper-
ate the blowers if you can smell gasoline
vapors in the engine compartment or if
there are any loose electrical connections.
Contact a Yamaha Boat Dealer if there is a
problem you cannot locate or correct.
