How does the ecoegg Laundry Egg work?
The Laundry Egg contains a number of small
pellets and it is these pellets that are the
secret to the Laundry Egg's cleaning power.
The Laundry Egg contains two types of
cleaning pellets:
The tourmaline pellets weaken
the adhesive forces between the dirt
and the fabric.
The mineral pellets then naturally ionize the
oxygen molecules in the water which then
penetrate deep into the fabric, lifting away
the dirt and grime, without fading colours or
damaging the fibres.
Our own scientific testing shows that these
two types of pellets used together give the
optimum cleaning results.
The ionized oxygen molecules also increase
the pH level of the water, which has a natural
softening effect on your laundry, so you do
not need to use additional fabric softener
or condi tioner.
Why are there white specs on my clothing?
After using the Laundry Egg for the first time,
in rare instances white specs may appear on
clothing. This is due to the manufacturing
process of the natural ingredients used in the
mineral pellets and should only occur during
your very first wash.
Does the ecoegg Laundry Egg contain
harsh chemicals?
No, the Laundry Egg does not contain any
harsh chemicals, petrochemicals, optimisers,
bleaches or ammonias that normal detergents
often contain.
Do you need to use fabric softener with
the ecoegg Laundry Egg?
If you wish, you can use fabric softener and this
will not affect the operation of the Laundry
Egg. We would recommend only eco-friendly
fabric softener or conditioner where possible.
Alternatively, some people find that a couple of
drops of essential oil works great. The Laundry
Egg will naturally soften fibres as it changes
the pH of the water so softener is not a
necessity if you suffer from very sensitive skin.
Can the Laundry Egg be used for hand washing?
Yes. Just pre-soak the Laundry Egg in the water
for approximately 20 minutes and then hand
wash as normal, allowing water to flow through
the Laundry Egg.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is it possible to shorten the rinse cycle?
As the Laundry Egg does not contain any soap
agents, it leaves almost no residue on your
clothes. Therefore, the rinse cycle can be
signifi cantly reduced, saving water, time and
electricity. Some machines have a 'rinse hold'
button, which, when pressed, skips the rinse
cycle. If you can't cut-out the rinse cycle, this
will not affect the Laundry Egg, you just will not
be saving on water and energy.
Is the ecoegg Laundry Egg safe to use with
sensitive skin including babies' skin?
Yes, as there are no harsh chemicals involved.
The Laundry Egg is 100% hypoallergenic,
meaning that it is safe for the most sensitive
skin, even babies' and children's skin.
Will the ecoegg Laundry Egg harm
washing machines?
No, the Laundry Egg is perfectly safe to use
with all styles of washing machine. It is made
from a unique strong, yet flexible, plastic, so it
is gentle on your machine.
Can the ecoegg Laundry Egg be used in all
temperature washes?
The Laundry Egg will work great in washes up
to 60 degrees Celcius. It will also work well in
cold water washes. The Laundry Egg should not
be used above 60 degrees Celcius as this will
significantly shorten the life of the pellets.
Can the Ecoegg Laundry Egg be left in for the
whole wash cycle?
Yes. However, the Laundry Egg should be
removed for the drying cycle if your washing
machine has one. If you do leave the Laundry
Egg in the machine during the drying cycle, it
will shorten the life of the pellets.
Do I need to dry the ecoegg Laundry Egg
between washes?
If you are doing several washes one after
another, then you do not need to dry the
Laundry Egg between washes. However, once
you have finished washing for the day, you need
to leave the Laundry Egg out of the
machine to dry.
How do I know when to refill my
ecoegg Laundry Egg?
Keep on eye on the white mineral pellets inside
the Laundry Egg. When these have dissolved
to about half of their original size, then you
need to refill the Laundry Egg. You should also
monitor the cleaning power of the Laundry Egg.
When this reduces, it's probably time to refill
the pellets.
