GENERAL Leine & Linde’s ADS system has been developed to permit the early detection of fault functions internally in rotating incremental pulse encoders. The system is based on a rapid logic in conjunction with a micro- processor which continuously monitors the encoder’s functions and is thus Figure A able to detect a fault function at an early stage.
To obtain the total angular error, the mechanical angular error must be Alarm output added to the resolution fault in the electrical specifi cation. In the event of a fault in the encoder, We recommend that the radial run-out measured on the encoder should an alarm signal is given at an optically not exceed 0.1 mm.
RS-232 communication System requirements The analysis software is supplied with connection cabling with which a PC • PC with at least a 486 processor. is connected to the encoder through the serial port. We recommend that PC • Windows 95, 98 or NT. communication should not be connected during operation.
Any faults that are detected are displayed under ”Stored faults”. Mark the Receiving information from the encoder fault by clicking with the mouse cursor on the fault and click on ”Open” to 1. Connect an RS-232 cable between the encoder and the serial port on your obtain more detailed information about the fault.
