Chopping FRESH soft wood up to 8cm
Fresh Soft Branch or Trunk
CREATE Notches (Triangular Cut Out)
1)
Start with a 45 degree angle chop on the side you
plan for the branch/trunk to fall to create a notch
(triangular cut out)
*Chop Downwards for top part and straight (ish) for
lower part to create the upwards angle
2)
Continue to chop in 45 degree angles until you are a
3rd through the branch or trunk
3)
Now do this at the opposite side for the 2nd notch.
Start higher up and until it's approx 3rd way
through
4)
Now go back to your first side and continue to deep-
en your original notch until your done. Be careful at
this stage
Splitting through your log up 8cm
1)
Place your log on suitable surface for support
2)
Aim to split it along the lines so choose your spot
carefully in the middle or towards side of the log
(depends on size)
3)
Now taking care and easy until you get used to it,
step away a little and swing downwards on to the
log, trying to hit the same spot each time (not es-
sential and not easy to do) until it splits
4)
If it gets stuck, free it and continue
