  • Page 5 Die Zunge spielt für die Entstehung und Aufrecht­ erhaltung von Gebissanomalien eine wesentliche Rolle: Sie ist aus ihrer Ruhelage im Oberkiefer verdrängt oder legt sich zwischen die Zahnreihen. So entstehen Kieferanomalien, die oft lebenslang erhalten bleiben.
  • Page 6 Der OrthoPreventAligner KII-W ® OrthoPreventAligner KII-W (KII = Unter kiefer­ ® rücklage) ist aus einem hoch elastischen Silikon ge­ fertigt. Der Lippenschild für den Oberkiefer ist verlän­ gert und stark nach hinten geneigt. Dadurch werden die meist nach vorn gekippten Schneidezähne und der Alveolarfortsatz völlig umfasst.

  • Page 16 How jaw anomalies develop There are congenital, inherited and acquired anomalies in the maxillofacial region. Jaw anomalies, as well as the causes and effects of the predominantly acquired malocclusions can be effec­ tively treated with prefabricated appliances such as the OrthoPreventAligner system.
  • Page 17 The tongue plays an essential role in the development and maintenance of dental anomalies: It is displaced from its resting position in the upper jaw, or becomes lodged between the rows of teeth. This is how jaw anomalies develop, which often remain for life.
