Prepare Patient's Finger
To prepare for testing, wash patient's hands
with soap and water and dry thoroughly.
Use of warm water stimulates blood flow.
If you also choose to use alcohol to clean
patient's finger, make sure you let it dry.
Choose finger for test: ONLY USE FINGERS
PATIENT KNOWS BLEED WELL. You can use
the sides or tip of finger. Avoid calluses.
Increase circulation: Prepare fingertip for
lancing by squeezing several times until it's
warm and reddish. COLD FINGERS SLOW
BLOOD FLOW.
