Wet type dust collector 1 INTRODUCTION This present manual refers to the MAXIHYDRO wet dust collectors. It includes important information concerning the installation, operation and maintenance of your collector. Read this manual thoroughly and apply the directives and procedures. Staff and personnel using the system will have to be trained on safety measures and maintenance instructions. The TYPE A MS scrubber is designed to filter explosive metal dusts such has aluminum. It can filter any particulate dust that sinks in a pool water. There are no moving parts, filtration is provided by the dusty air being forced through a determined water level, this causing a violent water agitation and mist the air must then go around baffles and water eliminators after which the cleaned air is returned to the plant. TYPE B MS scrubber use a drag bar conveyor to mechanically remove sludge from the settling tank to discharge it in a container. An added instruction manual that covers the conveyor is supplied separately. TYPE UM scrubbers are of a low silhouette design. A spray system is installed at the bottom of the settling tank to fluidize the sedimented sludge where it is drained to a conveniant location. WARNING! Not following directives and procedures could cause injuries or property damages.

Wet type dust collector 3 FEATURES OF THESE SCRUBBERS Figure 3 shows the water control system. Water pressure of 50 to 60 psi is recommended. The ball valve water control is always run with the fan, and is always open when the unit is operational. The filling water valve, which is always closed when the unit is working is used to rapidly fill the unit to static level. The water inlet is threaded for convenience in connecting to the main water system. The ball valve assembly with its float can be seen through the inspection window. The static water level is at the bottom of the window and this is where you will record the working water level. When the fan is turned on, the arm of the ball may have to be adjusted to the working water level. Connect the inlet and outlet ducting to the unit. Check that the gaskets are correctly positioned between the duct runs and the unit, and that all unions are tightly bolted. MS TYPE – STYLE A The MS Type Style A is a highly efficient dust collector with a low noise level. It can easily be installed inside a plant or tool room, and heated or cooled air can be discharged back into the shop. The MS Type Style A comes with a hand rake and sludge bin for sludge disposal. Wet type dust collector 5 CHECK THE UNIT Check to ensure that the inspection window, located at the discharge end of the unit is tightly bolted. 6 THE FAN (IF PART OF SCRUBBER) Fit the fan to the outlet end of the collector. For the best performance of the fan, the length of straight duct between the unit discharge and the fan inlet should be five times the inlet diameter. Check that the fan is correctly installed and is firmly sealed. Trial start fan to ensure that the rotation of the blades is correct, and that there is no vibration. 7 SET UP THE WATER SYSTEM Connect water pipe to the unit’s water control system. Check the water pipes by trial running water through them, and tightening joints if necessary. 8 GENERAL INFORMATION When the unit is operating the unit will be supplied. For sludge removal, the unit is supplied with a sludge rake-out chute, for sludge removal, bring a container or dump truck under the chute, open the rake-out door, use the supplied rake and slowly reach into the tank, pull the rake towards the chute and continue up the slope and discharge sludge into the container, continue until the floor seems free of sludge, remove container, replace rake-out door. Unit is ready to operate. WARNING! Once the water control system has been set correctly the system should not be re-adjusted. This unit will give constant efficiency and air flow.
Wet type dust collector 11 MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION The chart indicated below shows different inspections and the frequency at which they should be performed. Frequency of Components Procedures inspections Check that the water level is adequate and that Daily Tank the fleet is functioning well. Check for mud build-up, clean if necessary. Monthly Tank Check to see if the water is very black and muddy. If so, the dust collector should be cleaned. Inspect, clean and touch up paint if necessary. Yearly Dust collector Check the valves and the fleet. 12 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Probable cause Solution Water level too high Adjust the water level, check the water supply system. Insufficient suction of the dust collector There is too much mud. Empty the tank, clean and fill it with new water. Water level too low. Adjust the water level, check the fleet system. There is dust coming out at the exit of the dust collector The supply solenoid...
