Keypad is making a clicking noise, and the keypad won't work. I can't find my keys.
If the keypad on your Stack-On PS-1808-E safe is making a clicking noise and not working, you should try the following steps based on the manual:
1. Check the Battery: The most common issue with non-responsive keypads is low or dead batteries.
- Open the battery compartment located on the back of the door by pressing the tab in the direction indicated by the arrow.
- Replace the old batteries with fresh ones, ensuring they are installed correctly.
2. Wait for Lockout Reset: If incorrect codes have been entered multiple times, the safe enters a lockout mode.
- The safe will beep and flash red five times, then lock for 5 minutes.
- Wait at least 5 minutes before trying again. You’ll hear one beep and see one green flash when the lockout ends.
3. Re-enter the Code Carefully: After the lockout period, re-enter your code slowly and correctly.
- Make sure the mechanism is activating and the knob is turned fully to lock or unlock the safe.
4. Reset the Code (if needed): If issues persist, try resetting the code using the reset button on the back of the door.
- Press and release the reset button with a pen until you hear a beep.
- Enter a new code and confirm as instructed in the manual.
If none of these steps work, you may need to request support or a replacement key/combination through Stack-On’s customer service:
