INSTALLATION

Electrical Connections

3. For models -16 and -20, and the double float switches, attach the cord, mounting clip(s), and worm
gear clamp(s) to the discharge piping.
• Be sure not to over-tighten the worm gear clamp.
• Position the excess clamp band so that the float cable will not catch on it during operation.
NOTE: Top and bottom double float switches are labeled.
NOTE: If the double float switches are mounted less than 16
inches apart, mount the floats at a 90° angle from each other.
4. Ensure that the float's turn-off level is at least 2 inches from the
bottom of the pump base.
5. Lead the power cord out of the basin, securing it along the dis-
charge piping and away from the float.
• For RFSN -6, -9, -10, use the provided Ty-raps.
NOTE: Ensure secure positioning of the power cord to prevent the cord from slipping and chang-
ing the on-off levels.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the float switch(es) will not catch on the side of the basin or any other
obstructions. Do not mount floats in path of incoming liquid and turbulent areas. Ensure floats
cannot reach pump inlet.
Electrical Connections
Risk of severe injury or death by electrical shock.
• Always disconnect the electrical power before touching the switch, pump, discharge or electrical plug when
water is present in the area.
• Do not use the switch cord or power cord for lifting the pump.
• Be certain that this pump and switch is connected to a circuit equipped with a ground fault circuit interrupter
(GFCI) device if required by code.
Connect the switch and pump power cords to a constant source of power matching the pump and
switch nameplate voltage.
• The pump and switch should be connected or wired to
their own circuit, with no other electric receptacles or
equipment in the circuit.
NOTE: Do not connect to a fan or any device that runs
intermittently.
• The fuses or circuit breaker should be sized according
to the national electric code.
IMPORTANT: If the power cord is damaged, the whole
unit must be replaced.
Piggyback Float Switches
