    2.2 System features overview The DA 7440 is designed to measure on-line on a wide range of products passing under the measurement sensor as they are conveyed through a process. The instrument is designed to be easy to use, robust and to require a minimum of regular maintenance in the demanding plant environment.

  • Page 8: Setting Up The Instrument

    The sensor, PC, cabinet or at-line displays must not be placed in explosive environment. 4.2 Overview of installation pre-requisites The DA 7440 Sensor is designed to measure at a distance of 250 mm above a moving product. Measurement light spot is illuminated and measurements shall be made on the product within illuminated area.

    The PC runs the operating software ProcessPlus on a Windows 7 platform. This computer is placed in the junction box or optionally in a server room. As an alternative of using the Perten supplied dedicated PC, the Process Plus software can be installed on a partition in a server.

    IP addresses or to a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server that can give IP addresses on long term lease. The DA 7440 Instrument PC and sensor are by default configured with static IP addresses. Instrument PC default IP address is 192.168.1.3.

    5. Process Plus Operational Overview 5.1 Overview The DA 7440 On-Line runs on a Windows 7 operating platform. The Process Plus software operates and is the graphical interface for Perten Process Instruments. Measurement results can be observed, production trends followed and validation samples collected.

Measurements will update according to set interval. The picture below show a typical interface screen, with product and measurement results.

Green indicates within specification, yellow on warning limit and red out of upper or lower specification. See chapter 6.2 for setting levels.

    DA 7440 User Manual v.1.1 Aug 2015 5.4 Select product setting to use Measurement calibrations and configurations for each product is set-up in Analysis Profiles. The instrument is set-up to auto start on the last analysis profile in which measurements were done.

The graph is either auto scaling to follow the changes in each parameter or set to specific ranges if these are defined. Alarms and Warning can be visualized to show when production is within specifications.

Number of parameters shown, displayed time period and statistics option are set in the Display settings Time span shown can be selected from drop down menu.

    DA 7440 User Manual v.1.1 Aug 2015 Activating show statics tab allows for observing statcisics of measurement in current batch in the trend chart Average measurement result, standard deviation, minimum, maximum and range in current batch is displayed. Re-selecting the product or selecting a new product reactivates the statistics.

If not enough product was present or if instrument was running self-test during the sampling a sampling Failed indication will be shown. Verify that product is present, unit is in measurement mode Running and sample again.

    Changing instrument settings requests an Administrator password. Contact your Perten instruments office or local Perten instrument partner for obtaining the Administrator password. Once signed in as Admin as sign in confirmation will be shown in interface. Press Sign out to exit Admin log on.

    After editing settings, press Update to activate the profile with the new settings. Return to measurement view by pressing Dashboard. Description of the profile settings are summarized below. Caution: Settings for referencing, normalization, measurement filtering and sampling should not be changed unless instructed so by a Perten Applications or Service specialist. 21 (48)

    6.4 Bias adjustment In order to correct for systematic differences between laboratory results and DA 7440 NIR measurements a Bias can be set. The Bias Adjustment function facilitates quick and easy adjustments, should this become necessary.

    DA 7440 User Manual v.1.1 Aug 2015 Select settings and export menus by selecting Tools and settings tab and Bias Adjustment menu. Select Analysis profile in which to set adjustment. Select which samples to include in adjustments. Calculated bias is shown; apply each bias by selecting Apply bias tab. The bias to apply can also be manually entered.

Press the export button to download a .csv file with the measurement results. 7.4 Exporting measurement spectra Record logs of spectral readings and instrument measurements are accessible selecting settings tab and Measurement spectra .

Predicted measurements correspond to single measurements ( not averaged ) done at high speed, on average ~30 times per second. Published measurements are averaged /median filtered measurements presented in interface.

    8.1 DA 7440 Maintenance overview Technical maintenance The DA 7440 instrument is designed robust and to require a minimum of regular maintenance in the demanding plant environment. The instrument has an internal optical reference and Xenon light system for continuous ensuring of instrument performance. If instrument errors occur are notifications shown in the process Plus interface.

    The DA 7400 instrument is dust tight. Liquid protection is dependent on instrument model and closing of protectors. The DA 7440 General purpose, GP model is ingress protected according to IP code 65, IP67 with closed connectors. The DA 7400 Sanitary design, SD version is ingress protected according to IP code 69K.

    5. Attach the air purge by fitting its side to the instrument and rotating it counterclockwise. 8.4 Replacing the lamp The DA 7440 instrument halogen lamp has a limited life, estimated to 12000 hours. Replace it by following the listed steps.

    Instrument – Laboratory measurements comparisons. As a guideline - stability should be below 1% deviation. Contact your Perten instruments office or local partner if the deviation exceeds 1%.

    9. Extended configuration 9.1 Connecting DA 7440 sensor The DA 7440 sensor and interface PC are by default configured with static IP addresses. The sensor IP address is linked to the instrument computer using a function in the Process Plus.

    Putty.exe is installed on the Instrument computer. 9.2 DA 7440 sensor IP configuration Changing network configuration on the DA 7440 sensor is done through a SSH client.     4. Change the IP address using the procedure above. 9.3 Product Detection The DA 7440 instrument can detect if measurements are being done on product or empty conveyor belt, dirt or other material, excluding the erratic readings before presenting results.

    Select save and Dashboard to return to main screen. 9.4 Product Movement Detection The DA 7440 is designed to measure on a moving product, an internal function allows for measurements to start-stop measure based on the product flow. Configuration of the product movement detection is made through a tools and settings function.

    DA 7440 User Manual v.1.1 Aug 2015 9.5 Updating Calibration models Calibration files are by default named as product type, paramether name and optional extra abbreviation. They are in format .jhr or .unsb and are activated using measurement profiles in .xml format.

    Each time a measurement is published, the file is overwritten. Results from samples collection are also written into a XML file on the DA 7440 computer or server. The exported file is written in the directory C:\Perten\ProcessPlus\Results\Sample in a file named sample.xml...

The status of the instrument during these tests is Baseline. -If the internal tests in the instrument indicates an error is the status Error displayed.

    DA 7440 User Manual v.1.1 Aug 2015 Sensor restart Unplug the sensor power cable. If the sensor is connected to the Junction box, powering Off-On for 3 seconds will re-start the sensor. Computer shut down/restart. Junction box includes a UPS with automatic PC shutdown function. Powering of the junction box will shut down the computer within three minutes.
