    S1 Service manual General INTRODUCTION SCOPE OF THIS MANUAL This manual is intended for use by experienced technicians familiar with similar types of commercial grade communications equipment. It contains all required service information for the equipment and is current as of the publication data. Changes which may occur after publication are covered by either Service Bulletins or Manual Revisions.

  • Page 5 Preface The transceiver is programmed by using a personal computer, programming interface and programming software (ABELL transceiver programming software). The programming software can be used with and IBM PC or compatible. Figure 1 shows the setup of an IBM PC for programming.

It has a circuit in their D-sub connection (9-pin) cases that convert the RS-232C logic level to the transistor logic lever. The cable connects the side panel jacks of the A-80 to the PC’S RS-232C serial port.

  • Page 9 S1 Service manual 1.Radio Principle: 1. Frequency configuration The receiver utilizes double conversion. The first IF is 21.70MHz and the Second IF is 450 KHz. The first local oscillator signal is supplied from the PLL circuit. The PLL circuit in the transmitter generates the necessary frequency.
  • Page 10 S1 Service manual to further remove spurious signals. 3) IF amplifier The first IF signal is amplified by Q23, and then enters IC7(modulation processor IC). The signal is heterodyned again with a second local oscillator signal within IC7 to create a 450MHz second IF signal.
