v 1.6 - to be used from 28/09/2017
Perform all test runs and check the results (See chapter 8, pages 93 ff install. manual)
Make sure that all test runs are done and double check that the results are ok! The test runs are
required for safety and warranty reasons and are not optional. Perform the Back-Up operation test
(page 94) and the Reverse current CT test (page 95)
Check the test run results!
Switch on the AC supply for the Network Adaptor. Make sure both, battery system and network
adaptor are running and check the communications between the network adaptor and the storage
battery system. (See chapter 9, page 98)
Take the Setting Manual for the network adaptor and follow it step by step. Make sure the connection
settings to the server are correct (page 8, Setting Manual). Use Mode 2!!! The URL of Utility Server 1 is
always:
in.solarcity.panabattery.com
Please call 021 025 67893 or 027 349 1950 to finalize this step while on site. Regardless of the planned
comms connection, it is worth to bring an alternative solution such as an Ethernet or Wifi bridge.
Take the User Manual. It is most important that you read and understand the user manual before you
go on site. If you have any questions please get in touch with solarcity! The two relevant settings are No
1, No 2 and No 6.
1. no 1 Operation mode – Always set the battery to Maximum self-consumption mode (self),
unless specified otherwise. (page 15, User Manual)
2. no 2 Lower discharge limit - Set the lower discharge limit to 0%, unless discussed otherwise. A
higher value keeps a definite reserve for the backup supply, so the battery is never empty when
backup power is needed. Discuss with the customer and make them aware of the implications
(less usable power in normal operation) A value of 15% is enough to power a laptop and router
for 8 hours. (page 16, User Manual)
3. no 6 Stand-alone operation start setting - Chang this value to CH - 01 for manual start. Explain
this to the customer! Off-Grid mode should be started and stopped manually.
Explain the lower discharge limit setting to the customer and show how to activate and deactivate
back-up operation. Explain that the loads connected to the back-up supply must not exceed 2kW, as
this is the maximum (the internal RCBO will trip and servicing will be required). Find out what appliances
the customer would like to run on back-up power in case of emergency and discuss the lower discharge
limit settings in this context.
ALWAYS call solarcity to confirm that all user settings have been set correctly and comms are working
fine. You can reach our engineers until 11pm on 021 0256 7893. If there are any issues and you cannot
contact us via mobile, you must notify us via email immediately - engineering@solarcity.co.nz.
