6-5. Target Measurement Object

The equipment optically obtains minute patterns on the surface of the target measurement object to measure the
length.
If the surface of the target measurement object is similar to a mirror, the minute patterns may be difficult to be
distinguished and the length may not be measured.
Furthermore, a length measurement error may become large if the position of the target measurement object is far
from the center of the measurement distance.
The length of the following objects can be measured:
General metals, ceramics, cardboard, paper, fiber, plastics, building materials, wood, food
The length of the following objects may not be measured:
Finished mirrors, painted surfaces (The length may be measured if flake materials, etc. are contained)
Glossy paper (The length may be measured if printing patterns are contained)
Glass surfaces, transparent film (The length may be measured if printing patterns are contained)
* As a guide, if a fluorescent light can be seen clearly through the object, the length is difficult to be measured.
Furthermore, in the case of regular patterns, the length may be measured incorrectly.
As shown in the following schema, even if the pattern moves, depending on the timing of imaging and the moving
speed, the length is measured as if it were stopped.
For example, if the pattern is 1 mm and the object moves by 4 m/s, the pattern matches before and after imaging as
the sampling rate of the equipment is 4 kHz.
